Playing FSX on the plane?

Featured Replies

Do any of you guys play FSX when travelling on a plane? I was playing on my laptop on BA with my route and plane loaded up on FSX (PMDG 747 from LHR - JFK). I managed to get within a few minutes difference to the actual flight :)

Onboard an FA saw and started chatting to me about it. She must of mentioned it to the captain who came out (I was sitting in the first row on the upper deck) to see. He was very impressed with the flight model!

Didn't fly that often yet, so I didn't have that opportunity yet :(

But that reminds me a bit of an FSX advert I saw on youtube, where the copilot of a Cessna Caravan plays FSX while sitting in the real plane waiting for TO clearence.

I find mobile gaming too stolid. How did you fly, with the keyboard only? No way I could tolerate that.

Apart from takeoff, landing and taxing its on autopilot so its okey for the keyboard :)

Why would you have the AP on while taxiing?

Thanks,

Nice to have the captain come see you, and surprised that the battery on your PC didn't die on you.

Would I ever fly FSX on a plane? Yes if I could bring my 40" flatscreen, Saitek cockpit peripherals and TrackIR.

Lol yeah i was lucky enough to have a plug socket :)

makes me want to go to the BA simulators at London Heathrow!

Surely thought about it. Would never attempt unless I had a joystick, a first class seat, and a 10 hour flight ahead of me :)

I have thought about it, and it would be very fun, but none of the portable computers in my house (unless Apple iMacs and Dell desktops count as "portable") can run FSX properly.

My friend controls on VATSIM from planes. Suprisingly the audio sounds fine most of the time.

I tend to avoid that because I think it creates a hole in the space-time continuum. :Alien:

I like to relax, unplug, and look out the window

I also love looking at the control surfaces, but on long flights, people often get annoyed if one person leaves his or her window cover open when the others are all closed and the cabin lights are dimmed.
