February 15, 201313 yr 14A without Megascenery Earth North Carolina: 14A with Megascenery Earth North Carolina I set my Texture Resolution to 60cm ... maybe they are monitoring this forum and they'll have a fix.
February 16, 201313 yr Easy fix for 14A, open ADE, place a flatten around the airport that matches the airport elevation and that should fix it. I am very curious to check out Florida. The free source for it is hit or miss and the Simsavvy version had horrendous color issues. Best, Michael KDFW
February 16, 201313 yr with Scenery set to Ultra High There is something else that must be influencing your scenery. I could not replicate any of the issues above. I reset my settings to Ultra High and their were no anomalies. I moved all sliders to high and no problems. I moved the sliders all the way to the left and no problems. The runways are definitely not aligned though and you can clearly see that in your pics. What other scenery is installed and is the NC V2 Photoscenery located above all the other scenery addons. For instance, if you have UTX installed, it should be located below NC V2 in the Scenery Library. It really should create any problems but improper layering in the Scenery Library has caused problems in the past. I have DX10 Preview activated and this is the kind of stuff I saw before DX10 was fixed. Do you have DX10 Preview activated and did you install Steve's Shader Fix in the DX10 Forum? February 16, 201313 yr There is something else that must be influencing your scenery. I could not replicate any of the issues above. Well, now I'm confused. This is a problem I see at most airports where I have MS Earth v1 and others have reported this as common as well. As mentioned earlier, there was someone who'd tackled quite a few airports specifically to correct for these MS Earth anomolies. As PCAviator has said they do no airport corrections in v2 either, I would expect to see what CTBlankenship is seeing at many airports - it matches what I get in v1. Bottom line - if there was a fix for this, I'd sure be interested in understanding what it is and I'd be far more inclined to try v2 states as well. It's exactly these kinds of airport issues that have kept me completely on the v2 sidelines so far. I don't think this is a library priority issue, as I don't get this in any of my Blue Sky OR MegasceneryX photoscenery. Scott
February 16, 201313 yr Hi Scott, Well, I can honestly say it is not in Version 2.0 but I do not like the fact the airports are out of alignment. As stated above though, these can be fixed and I'll have to research this whenever I get time. I never saw V1 and that would be upsetting to see the scenery peeking through runways. V2 has updated data so think you should upgrade if you haven't already. Best regards, Jim Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! February 16, 201313 yr The airport runday and ramp alignments doesn't have anything to do with MCE other than before we didn't know what the real alignment in the real world really was. duh. It is all in the the FSX default ADE camp. Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
February 16, 201313 yr Hey guys ... here are the sceneries that I have installed in descending order ... notice that I only have airports ... as I fly mainly Southwest routes above FL180 I don't have a need for sceneries such as this ... I simply tried out NC because I live about 15 m north of Chrlotte ... KIND KPHX KDCAx KDEN KCLTScenery MegaSceneryX Las Vegas ... then the default sceneries begin. When I install NC I put them at the top ... in ascending order 001 - 004. I do not have Preview DirectX 10 selected as this was not suggested in the "tweaks" that I have running now ... I'm getting 20 to 25 fpm with PMDG 737NGX so I'm pretty happy with the MSFX configuration right now (I'm running a DualCore E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz (not overclocked) processor ... a fairly low end machine). I don't even know what "Steve's Shader Fix in the DX10 Forum" is  so no, I don't have that installed either. 1Mikel151 ... dude ... this is GREEK ^_^ ... "Easy fix for 14A, open ADE, place a flatten around the airport that matches the airport elevation and that should fix it" ... care to elaborate for a scenery newbiee? Thanks
February 16, 201313 yr I don't even know what "Steve's Shader Fix in the DX10 Forum" is so no, I don't have that installed either. Okay. Just making sure and covering all bases. No harm, no foul. You scenery library configuration looks correct. Do you have V1 installed as Scott in post 220? Or do you have the latest version 2.0? Mike above was talking about Airport Design Editor (ADE) - http://www.airportdesigneditor.co.uk/. There are a lot of tutorials around if you decide to use it. Thanks Sorry, this is a basic knowledge around here so I wasn't thinking, apologies Try this, download this flatten, unzip all 3 files and place inside your ADDON SCENERY > SCENERY folder and see if that helps.. http://www.mediafire.com/file/prs9m9q8sd8aegs/14A_ADEX_MCD.zip Best, Michael KDFW
February 16, 201313 yr Commercial Member Did you try adjusting the Terrain Mesh slider? It is the one that goes to 10m or 5m in its setting range (not the 60cm, 7cm one etc which is the texture resolution, and unrelated to this problem). Try setting that to 10m and re-test. Anyways, what's been said about the flatten is really the best solution if you don't want to have to touch your mesh settings (like if you have them set for other products and would have to remember to re-adjust when flying there instead of over MSE), but adjusting the mesh resolution usually works as well. February 16, 201313 yr Easy fix for 14A, open ADE, place a flatten around the airport that matches the airport elevation and that should fix it. I am very curious to check out Florida. The free source for it is hit or miss and the Simsavvy version had horrendous color issues. I tried that for some other payware airport with MSEv1 underneath, the flatten never helped. It's something to do with textures and resolution settings, and It's very annoying. Dirk.
February 16, 201313 yr On this same theme, can anyone tell me how to fix whatever I've managed to 'break' here? Yes, I think so. Sorry Drew, I'm lousy with names. :-) I guess it's finally time for me to break down and get ADE. I don't really want to mess with mesh settings for the reason you describe above. Nice to know that this is fairly easily corrected, though. Scott
