March 2, 201313 yr Can someone help me out here please. I don't understand their products numbering system and what links to what? GenX 1,2,3,4....9,10 what the heck are the others in the middle? Or did they just do that to confuse us. Treescapes 1,2,3,..6...8. and no 4? Is there a one to one relationship? Or how does this work anyway. And two update products V1, V2 are those the same areas as GenX 1,2..? Must be my old age...but I can't figure out what one should buy to get a complete set of all United Kingdom photo scenery and associated autogen? Can anybody advise me? March 2, 201313 yr I've been thinking about getting their Channel Islands stuff for ages and this sale would easily do it for me--except that I'd read a while ago that they do some weird stuff with the FSX autogen system that can cause all kinds of problems even when not flying in their scenery. Can anyone comment? This would be an easy purchase otherwise. Thanks, James
March 2, 201313 yr Bryan, These are the photoscenery volume numbers, and their associated coverage areas..... Volume 1 Southern England and Wales Volume 2 Central England and North Wales Volume 3 Northern England Volume 4 The Western Isles (Scotland) Volume 5 Orkneys & Shetland Isles Volume 6 Northern Scotland Volume 8 Southern Scotland Volume 9 Western Republic of Ireland Volume 10 Eastern Republic of Ireland Volume 7 (Central Scotland) is due for release in April this year, and Volume 11 (Northern Ireland), well.......I have no idea when that will be available. The TreeScapes volumes match the photoscenery area numbers. Since there are so few trees in Volume 4 and 5, this is a FREE download that can be found on the ES website. James, Earth Simulations products do not do "weird stuff" with the autogen system. In fact, it is the system used by some other companies that I could mention that causes conflicts. Earth Simulations do it properly....they append to the autogendescriptions.spb file, whilst some other companies replace that file altogether. It's the latter that causes problems. For the record, ES have created a file called MergeES that helps different sets of autogen areas to work together. As far as I am aware, they are the only company that has actually bothered to address the problem. March 2, 201313 yr They also worked with Orbx so that you have no problems with FTX EU and their scenery. I have their island products, great fun with a Twin Otter up.
March 2, 201313 yr Author Actually Hans, there is a wierd problem associated with an area around Orbx KSEA in PNW. For some reason, after installing ES Guernsey, which incidentally is superb, FSX would crash when flying within a small radius of Seattle Tahoma. I traced the problem and it was affected by small fishing boats bgl. file in the ES scenery folder. Unsure how it affected it, but after doing several tests removing and restoring the offending file, I confirmed that it was definitely the culprit. I removed the file and in doing so removed small fishing vessels around Guernsey... no big deal though. BTW, as I mentioned, this scenery is superb! March 2, 201313 yr Author Hi Hans, yes I did start a thread on the ES forum, titled Guernsey compatibility issue with Orbx HowardMSI Mag B650 Tomahawk MB, Ryzen7-7800X3D CPU@5ghz, Arctic AIO II 360 cooler, Nvidia RTX4090 GPU, 32gb DDR5@6000Mhz, SSD/2Tb+SSD/500Gb+OS, Corsair 1000W PSU, LG Ultragear 48"4K, MFG Crosswinds, TQ6 Throttle, Fulcrum One YokeMy FlightSim YouTube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@skyhigh776
March 2, 201313 yr Thank you....Christopher Low, this is very helpful. Now I get it. I am/will seriously consider this scenery, I think it would be fun to fly. Those folks should consider a map with all the sceneries indexed and then just click on the section of pieces that you would like. Bryan Wallis aka "fltsimguy" Maple Bay, British Columbia Near CAM3
March 2, 201313 yr Author Hi Aaron, well I am a staunch supporter of all Orbx products and can say with great confidence that Guernsey IMO is easily as good as Orbx products. I can't say anything about any of the other sceneries, but I understand they are equally as good. What makes the scenery so special is the length the devs have gone to develop such wonderful autogen on top of 50cm res (me thinks) photoscenery. They even have the sound of waves crashing on the coastline! However, good luck trying to search their site, IMHO it's one of the worst online stores I've come across!
