If you want stability and great battery life, Apple all the way. This comes from a guy who has been with Android since their Cupcake version. September can't get here soon enough so I can upgrade my phone and go back to the iPhone.

I'm just sick and tired of the horrible battery life and OS instability.

Android here, phone and tablets, but agree, flight sim apps should be cross platform.

FSWidgets do cross platform, and do it very well. Not only that, they cater to various simulators. Very smart business "model".

What kind of battery life are you looking for? I've been able to get at least 12-15 hours out of my Droid tablet before I get the recharge icon, and at least a day out of my smartphone when used regularly. Just curious...

IMHO you get what you pay for... I have experienced both.

One that will get me through my work shift of 12 hours without having to have my phone hooked up to the charger for the better part of the shift. My current phone, Galaxy Nexus, will last me about 2 hours of on-screen time. In contrast, my iPad with Retina display, will drop to 70% after 12 hours of moderate use.

I don't mind having to charge the phone once during the 12 hour shift, but it's ridiculous to see a drop to 90% after just 5 minutes of browsing a few forums via Tapatalk.

In the other hand, my wife and daughter who both have iPhones, can go a whole day of moderate use with some battery to spare when they hook the phone up to a charger before going to bed.

That's the battery life I am looking for.

Of course, if I leave my phone still, I can get 5 days worth of power, but that is not what I purchased a smartphone for.

Sounds like you have a problem with that phone and more specifically the battery. Being android phone you can most likely find and buy another battery easily to replace. And probably 20-30$. Compared to iPhone if you had a battery issue you would have to send it in for a 70$ repair bill I believe and be without it for1-2 weeks.

I can go a full day on pretty good usage. Try a factory reset on the phone. It also could be an app in the background that is draining the life. Its clearly not a normal thing to android.

When it comes to Android, this is not my first rodeo. My phone is rooted and I've tried tons of different ROMs, kernels, tweaks, radios, you name it. I have installed BetterBattery Plus from XDA to try and identify any app that is creating any wake lock preventing my phone to go to sleep but nothing. As for the battery, I swapped it out for a new one ans same issue. You have to remember, phone usage is very subjective and what you consider good usage, might be no usage to me.

I have run stock ROMs with NO 3rd party apps other than the stock apps, just to see if it's one of the stock apps and no, no problem with wake locks there. The main issue is how the screen just devours through the battery and the LTE radio.

Funny thing is that my wife's iPhone is also LTE and her battery lasts her an entire day. Her usage consists of phone calls, text messages, KIK messages, FB surfing, youtube videos, and her iPhone will get her through the day.

Don't get me wrong, I am not bashing Android, just being realistic. I love being able to tinker with the phone, install custom ROMs, etc etc, but at the end of the day, what good is it if your phone is dying on you every 2 hours?

Wow that sucks. I know the older phones did that with the screens, but the newer phones are way more efficient.  As for LTE, I changed the  modem until i had decent reception clarity and draw.

I just personally like androids customization and will never go back to iphone. Tried it, jail broke it to get customization and apple always circumvented it. Looking at a bunch of icons on your homescreen with no widgets or anything else is boring. its been like that since original iphone.

All the best to you. Hope you can figure it out

I use both. I have a 4th Gen iPod touch--jailbroken--though it hasn't gotten much use since I got my Droid (an HTC One V.) I also have an Asus TF300T Transformer with the keyboard dock. Both phone and tablet are on ICS and the iPod is still on 5.1.1.

I like Android for the customization, less clunky notification center, and less clunky app switching and management. I like iOS for the better default mail app and (sometimes) better stability. I haven't seen enough of an incentive to upgrade to iOS 6--despite there being a jailbreak for it--since there hasn't really been any worthwhile change usability and featurewise. Part of me wants to root my phone and put Jelly Bean on it, just I'd need to find where the files for Beats Audio and the adaptive autobrightness are kept so that I could copy those over on stock JB.

Personally I wish there were more pro grade audio interface apps for Android though.

Ever noticed that Apple products are mostly bought by laymans, and that most computer educated people do not like Apple? There's a reason for that. People who buy Apple have mostly not gone into research of what other brands have to offer for a lower price.

Er, no.

I'd consider myself at least moderately computer literate (after all, I am a sys admin for a college with a mixture of Windows and Mac devices, plus Windows/Mac/Linux servers - over 2000 devices all in), and I much much prefer Apple. An older slogan is "it just works" and that is exactly what it does. I don't have to tinker with it, it is immensely stable, and it does what I need it to do.

The Apple 'premium' isn't as high as people make out and their products are much better in build quality and overall finesse than the vast majority of products on the market.

Your own needs may differ, of course, but to say Apple devices are bought by laymen, the computer illiterate and those who have not done their research is a gross oversight and, quite frankly, insulting.

Get a Galaxy Note 2. I have it and you cannot kill this battery. Unplug in morning, surf Web, watch videos, use multiple apps and plug it in late at night some 16 hours later. I still have 30 percent left.

Hello.

I am a loyal iphone user, but I did tried an android because the screen was bigger (before the iphone 5) and it wasn't actually that bad.

I actually ended up losing that at Houston International Airport.. So I just bought myself an iphone 5 and i'm happy with it.
