I have been a member of AVSIM for a long time. Just recently I began wondering exactly what does the A & V stand for? Obviously, the 'SIM' is self explanatory. Also, where on your web site does it show the complete meaning of this accronym?

We don't really have a story, that I'm aware of, that details our past. If you go on Tom's blog I think I saw an article there. Av means aviation in the title.

AV=aviation was my guess, too.

I have always said A-V-sim instead of AV-sim, perhaps because stressing the A and V more closely resembles the pronunciation of A-V(i)-ation. Which pronunciation seems more natural to you?

avsim or, a-v-sim as most of our European members pronounce it. Either way is fine by me. I pronounce it avsim. You know, it is kind of like "call me anything you like, just don't call me late for dinner".

I like the name AVSIM, its what attracted me to check this place out in the first place. Its how I stumbled on the Library, been happily there ever since!

I guess because it's Aviation Sim, so A-V as in how you say aviation you say it as a-vi-ation not av-iation (at least in the UK).  My two pence worth
