Flight1 King Air B200

Featured Replies

I wouldn't have thought there was any hardware as such, specific to the LNAV and VNAV systems of a G1000/GFC700 (aside from the LNAV and VNAV 'buttons'!)........

By "the hardware outside of the electronics and software of the G1000", I can't think what else there would be, other than the autopilot servos attached to the flight control menchanisms, and their controllers (which receive signals from the G1000).

.......but those are just powered servos - for LNAV and VNAV they just receive electronic signals telling them how far the deflection needs to be, on any of the flight axes.    The servos work with signals from LNAV, VNAV, HDG, ROLL, etc, etc.

Can you elaborate on what 'hardware' a King Air operator would remove, to disable LNAV and VNAV on a G1000 system, as I'm confused as to what it would be?

I was referring to the multiple Servos and gyros.  (the HARDWARE  of the system, that being hardware, is subject to wear & tear)

These "just servos"  for a G1000 system typically cost about $6500  each, and there are quite a few !!.

Add to that the cost of labor replacing, down time, and cost of scheduled inspections, and it soon adds up.

In the  Air Freight Services industry,  those cost can eat into your competitive bottom line.

Geoff, you responded while I was, so I deleted my partial response and commented here instead.

It was the "just" part that I reacted to as well.  This is indeed the part of the system mostly likely to need adjustment, repair and replacement because its mechanical.

Remember, these are not fly by wire airplanes.

While looking for some additional information on the internet, to collaborate the info given to me by a RL King Air Pilot friend, I came across this video.

King Air G1000  UPGRADE  in 90 seconds.

If nothing else, it shows you the vast amount of complex wiring, that sits behind those Cool New Glass Displays !!.

Ray, I honestly think I've gone too far the other way.  I haven't picked up a new airplane in a very long time, despite being interested in several of late  - the AN-2, the Twotter, the Q400, the Carenado 206 and even the TBM, and now the F1 KA).  I've always bought pretty carefully, but I think I'm almost getting silly about being careful and I'm quite sure I'd enjoy most of these if I'd just give 'em a shot.

In the case of the King Air, I keep going back to the Mustang in my mind.  I know it's a good plane, there's a lot to like about it and yet I don't fly it much due to a couple of things I've never quite worked out for the way I like to set up a sim in terms of controls and minimizing pop up use.  If I don't fly the Mustang much, will the KA end up being the same way?  I dunno, but I'm thinking it's time to start trying a few new planes again.

Live a little!  You can't take it with you and you only live once.  You may lose your health/life tomorrow.  Don't be reckless but live! :)

The b200 comes with an android app for the g1000 keypad which handily eliminates use of the popup. Awesome and improves greatly the functionality of the g1000. There is very little lag if your wireless network is decent. There is talk of an iOS app as well

True dat!

Actually - not that I've got money to burn - but at this stage of my life it's as much about time as anything.  There's less and less to waste as I get older.

If they do this, they'll probably have me.  I'm not an Apple guy, but I finally committed to the iPad a year ago when Android tablet apps were still pretty sparse.  Still Android for phone, but my tablet's an iPad and that's that.

Hi Guys any of you seeing these problems and no if a fix is in the works ? thank you

1. Sound in external view is fading in out cracking and popping as you rotate around aircraft

2. Doing donuts in the parking lot brakes way to touchy, very hard to control on the ground.

3. Dawn and dusk only the overhead brt light works not all of the individual lights

4. The big one seeing blurry distant textures which does not happen with any of my other aircraft and I have most of the major players also ftx global which eliminated any blurries

Running a Titan graphics card.

1. No

2.Learn beta throttle setting.

3. Uses FSX default night lighting.

4. No problems with blurring.

1. Well that's not good doesn't happen with any other aircraft.

2. Learn beta throttle setting [What does this mean]

3. so only the overhead light works at dusk and dawn ?

4. Hmm interesting

Thank you

2. Check out the manual. Instead of braking and wearing out expensive brake pads king airs commonly use beta thrust (pitch angle of blades) to manage taxi speed. Brakes are a little touchy but really you won't use them much once you get taxiing in beta down. Beta is the range behind idle and in front of reverse on the power levers.

3. FSX night lighting bug... Typical for acft built following FSX SDK.

I'm not seeing 1 and 4. Sound may be related to your throttle quadrant... If your power levers are close to idle or beta the sounds will loop and cut out because your hardware thinks your in beta but you're near idle range too. Make sure the rear of the gray shafts on the power levers is in front of the white IDLE markings on the quadrant in the VC.

Thanks Ryan - can you tell me how to get the alt button to adhere to the input altitude for instance I have it set to 12,000 ft but its only flying at 1,600 is there a button push to get to follow alt input - thanks a lot for the help, thinking its a 3d sound setting in my creative sound card settings have to look into that now, distance blurries seem better after shutting of glass smudges need to investigate some more, great looking exterior model and paint.

Read The Friendly (lol) Manual is in order...

Just check out the autopilot section ... Manual is located in your FSX main directory as it was a bug with their initial installer.

Thanks Ryan well this sound issue is on Their side and it is a bit hard on the scenery distance texture sharpness so I think it may be going back, the knobs are very hard to work with also to bad do luv the externals of this bird, take care.
