Flight1 King Air B200

I have the T182 - one thing to consider is that using SGSS AA will really hurt the G1000 screens in terms of FPS. I switch it off when flying the T182 and get much better FPS

Alas, LINDA support is weak or non-existent in them

If I am not mistaken this one should also have a "input.ini" file where most of the important instrument controls can be assigned to keyboard short-cuts which you could then use FSUIPC to assign to your joystick button, Goflight etc. I did this with my Mustang and T182T and it's great.

What about 8xS with 2xSGSS transparency? Or are you saying you kill transparency all together in the 182T?

C.

Basically ya. Try going back to 8xS or SQ when running the g1000 in F1 planes.

Thats the key, setting it up for your own personal enjoyment. I bought the King couple days ago. I think it is excellent, but I am so use to flying other GA aircraft with maxed settings on my 30" monitor at 1900x2650 resolution with a LOD of 6.5. With the new King I cant do that, so I know in my heart of hearts it just wont get used. But man again great plane!

Just to be clear, in my case it's not to do with performance with the Mustang, as it runs pretty well for me. It's a matter of setting up my hardware controls - nothing fancy, just Saitek multi-panel (AP), radio panel, yoke, pedals and dual T-quadrants - in a way that helps me to minimize mouse and popup panel usage. The more I can minimize popup use in a plane, the happier I am and vice versa. I think I know how to improve what I've done a bit, but I'd like to prove it to myself before trying out the new plane.

Mine are/were too, which is why I made a pretty huge stink about something I was concerned with.

Still, the King Air has failures modeled, and while it doesn't have RXP, it uses Navigraph for updates plus ocsnl WAAS updates (if you are a USA flyer) from F1.

I think you would like it, but like Greg said maybe wait and see what comes out in their update.

oh update: There's a RW KA driver on their forums that had some cool things to say about it:

STUPID EDITING issues... does anyone else have that crap come up with Chrome during an edit?

Heya Ryan,

Happened to me a while back as well (on Chrome). I used the "advanced edit" (IIRC) feature and it all magically disappeared without touching a key.

Yoda has mentioned that this file is present in the KA, I am hoping it includes all the critical systems.

Since I've been at this plane a few hours per day now I'd like to post that I'm quite enjoying it. It's got some hidden gems that make it stand out from the rest of the planes (I really mean that). F1 is seriously looking at the thing I wrote about at the start and I really appreciate it. This plane has a lot of character, and it's freeking fast which makes it fun to fly and also makes it the #1 plane in my hangar. Even my little Legacy hasn't gotten much lovin'. The glass haters should appreciate that this is still very much a "pilot's plane," - lots of switches to click and things to turn, things to watch. I know some wonder about the vertical part of the G1000 but I pride myself on being able to use simple math to calculate on my own what I'll need to meet altitude requirements. Even though I've griped about some things the VNAV part didn't really bother me too much with this and the Mustang. The FPS are much improved based on my personal testing from T182 and Mustang variants of the G1000. I sincerely appreciate that part they did to optimize it.

Since I now trust they are ironing out the few bugs I'd highly recommend this plane. Worst case scenario you'll return it within 30 days thanks to F1's kind return policy. It's a win win for us the customer...

Ryan, thanks for giving your impressions. Yeah, the VNAV thing doesn't bother me at all on the Mustang so it certainly wouldn't bug me on the King Air. Referencing my last post - do you find the plane to be more dependent, less dependent or about the same as the Mustang in terms of having to use 2D popups?

Thanks,

Scott

When using the T182 I switch off transparency AA (2xSGSS) totally and just use the 8xS setting on its own. You get some shimmer in the trees etc but it makes a big difference to the FPS impact of the G1000 glass.

The only thing I'm using a popup for is the MFD controller - because it's in a PITA spot in the real plane. Well, in the real plane we'd be able to use our fingers and get tactile feedback. In the sim it's odd to use even with Track IR, which is why I rely on the popup often. Everything else, the VC works well. There are some minor clickspot things that I'd personally like done another way but it really depends on the user. So, to answer your question, I rely on popups less than the Mustang.

And now I'm going to be (almost) late for work eek!!

Perfect. Thanks for the feedback.

Off to work with you!

Just confirming the input file is located in the folder: FSX/gauges/flight1_garming1000_kingair_aux

Similar to the mustang file, allows custom keystroke inputs for G1000, baro, anti skid, and AP functions, including pitch control. Makes me happy.

I would add that the MFD controller popup is really, really nice to use with a touchscreen monitor, along with the AP. ^_^

Flight1 B200 vs. Carenado B200. How do they compare? I already have the Carenado but trying to decide if it's worth the money to get the Flight1 as well. If you have them both please advice on the advantages of the Flight1.

BUT I don't want to turn this into a bashing of either product I'm just trying to decide.
