Flight1 King Air B200

But alas, all I have been trying to do is weave my way through the hype and make some smart purchasing decisions, and at the same time trying to convey to development types who might be reading some of the things that I happen to care about in the hopes that they will incorporate fixes or features in future versions.

What me puzzles is that you could purchase with a 30 days money back, so you could make a well balanced decision for your self.

Decide if this one is up to your own standards/expectations and if not just ask for a refund...

Instead of reading 3 days or more post which are subjective to our fellow simmers and gives a first indication and is of course helpful, but why not fly the aircraft and test it local on your system.

That way you can always avoid disappointments works for me ;-)

Does this puppy have LPV approaches in the database? Annnddddd will the AP capture the GS?

Yes, it does and yes, it will.

From what I've read, this will be similar to the Mustang, however.  The LPV approaches will be US only - Canadian approaches are not included.

Can I just add a comment here ...

"The idea that you can just buy the plane and if you don't like it ask for a refund from FLight One" is only valid if you are not a compulsive collector of aeroplanes. It doesn't apply if you unwilling to give up on a product because there may be an update coming and it looks nice in the scroll down bar as another add on... and sure it does have its weaknesses, but there is just something about it that keeps it in your collection.

There, I have said it.

"I am a compulsive buyer of Flight Sim stuff"  and have been for many a year.

Sure I fooled myself I only buy quality stuff, so how come there are some real unworthies in my collection? I am fooling no-one but myself.

I glance warily and yet eagerly toward the Flight One Beech - oooh the longing (Small voice in head - hang on - what about all those other recent purchases? The Majestic Q400, the Coolsky DC-9, the Sibwings AN2 - really haven't flown them much have you - a week here or there, maybe two weeks max, then onto the next one)?

Hmm... while I do find it hard to resist temptation myself, I've been able to get my moneys worth out of the Q400 in flight time, and the AN2... well, let's just say I probably got my moneys worth of flight time out of it in the first week alone... It's easily been my favorite release of the year.

I can sympathize though - there's been quite a few planes released in the last 6 months where I've had to shakily hide my credit card.  Usually if I can make it past the first 2 weeks of everyone talking about it, then I'm okay and can approach the purchase with a more rational mindset.

Actually I look back on this "meant to be supposedly humorous" comment about being unable to suppress my urge to spend more and more money on collectables and I feel a little ashamed of myself.

Guess I am lucky to be in the position of still having a job and still having disposable income.

My apologise if I have offended anyone

Aw, it's taken well.  I, myself, have been gritting my teeth, wanting to buy the Q400, Twotter (<- note the O) and this King Air.  I've always wanted...wanted a King Air.  Alas, LINDA support is weak or non-existent in them...and so I wait...wait...sigh...LOL.  It's good to laugh at myself.  It's coming...patience, precious..paaaaatience...

Ray, I honestly think I've gone too far the other way.  I haven't picked up a new airplane in a very long time, despite being interested in several of late  - the AN-2, the Twotter, the Q400, the Carenado 206 and even the TBM, and now the F1 KA).  I've always bought pretty carefully, but I think I'm almost getting silly about being careful and I'm quite sure I'd enjoy most of these if I'd just give 'em a shot.

In the case of the King Air, I keep going back to the Mustang in my mind.  I know it's a good plane, there's a lot to like about it and yet I don't fly it much due to a couple of things I've never quite worked out for the way I like to set up a sim in terms of controls and minimizing pop up use.  If I don't fly the Mustang much, will the KA end up being the same way?  I dunno, but I'm thinking it's time to start trying a few new planes again.

Thats the key, setting it up for your own personal enjoyment. I bought the King couple days ago. I think it is excellent, but I am so use to flying other GA aircraft with maxed settings on my 30" monitor at 1900x2650 resolution with a LOD of 6.5. With the new King I cant do that, so I know in my heart of hearts it just wont get used. But man again great plane!

Yep. This and the new twin otter. We are spoilt.

I've got great performance with the twin otter but sad to say I don't with the F1 Kingair.

Thats too bad about your performance issues; it is a pleasure to fly this plane.  I have a much lower spec system than you do Chris but I still achieve 30 fps consistently.  Granted I'm not running with all settings maxed out nor do I use AI traffice because they are just plain stupid.

I actually for some odd reason get better frames on the F1 King Air than in the NGX at places like flightbeam KIAD and KPHX; which are my hardest hitting in performace on my setup.

Hope you will be able to come back one day and enjoy the aircraft.

Thanks Sean. I'm sure I will revisit the F1 King down the road. I bought their T182T a while back, wasn't pleased with the performance and returned it. Then I upgraded my system and re-bought the T182T and now it runs like a champ :p0504:

Hmmm, the T182 G1000 is based off the old one from the Mustang.  The KA version is definitely better...  odd that it's not the same on your system...  oh well, the fun of FSX!

Ohh the mystery off it all :Hypnotized: Yeah people complained about the Carenado Cirrus performance, and it runs smooth as silk on my rig with max sliders. Go figure ehh

Hey there Sean.

I whacked in a GTX660 and now she's running like a dream. I was determined to keep her flying.
