Flight1 King Air B200

If you're kind of insulted by F1 for their closing their support forums (and suspecting future customers), then you'll be able to "flip them off" with a refund request if the product is indeed as bad as you feared.

I've done just that a couple of times, but more times than not their in house products are very well made. I have high hopes for this bird.

I'd post a screenshot of the forum if I had access to it, as the thread list alone would be useful I think. But I haven't bought it yet as I'm waiting for a new motherboard to arrive and can't fly ATM.

I don't think the product will be bad at all!  I just need to know when it has the features I need.  They say that it may support hardware but haven't said definitively.  Once I have reasonable confidence that it does, then I will buy.  If it's as nice as the Mustang (and I've been hearing it's better) then I'll be getting it for keeps.  I don't want to buy it and say "nope, not ready yet...try again later..."  So, I'll just wait for news from wherever it comes.

Yeah I would prefer to look at forums of for a particular addon before I get it, and I can also understand why F1 chooses to close theirs to customers only.  However I suppose that is the tradeoff considering you can return their addons for a refund.

I do like the return policy, and use it especially with Carenado's hit and miss addons via the F1 wrapper.

The radio altimeter on the PFD is a welcome addition.

Also the PFD displays ISA temps (it does the conversion for you).

They had the forums open for a whole week. I think that's decent. No other major bugs have been reported. The main ones are the clickspots randomly disappearing (about 3 reported this), my issue with turns/std rate, and that's about it for the big issues.

I go to the forum often let me know if you gave other questions.

F1 B200 purchaser here...The other Flight1 aircraft have closed support forums as well, so no surprise that this one should be closed as well. Before they closed it, there was a LOT of noise from folks who had not purchased yet. My sense is that this "noise" was making it difficult for the support engineers to assist paying customers and to began the scope of a service release.

I can understand why they might restrict POSTING to "registered users",  but I can only imagine Negative reasons why it should be not be READABLE  by all.

What functions are missing from the G1000 in this airplane? Still holding back because of the known issues that have already been discussed in this thread, but want to hear about some of the avionics or other systems in the meantime.

Not defending or advocating for them but the other 3 aircraft support forums are the same way.

Well, it's their call.  It makes it tougher for folks.  *Shrugs*

I suppose it's their way of denying any support to potential pirates.  It might be over the top and I don't particularly agree with that strategy either, but like Gregg says, its their call.

Right, the Mustang forum is also licensed and non-licensed. You could use the non-licensed support forum here: http://www.simforums.com/forums/flight-one-product-support_forum2.html. As Ryan said, I will be willing to pass along questions also.

Many I am sure, but it's the best G1000 I have ever used. If you are looking for a specific function, I'll be glad to check.

Just buy it, use it, if its not for you then return it. As a bonus you will have full access to thei support forums once purchased and if you don't like the support or assistance, again, return it.

Simple.

The largest ommission from the G1000 is vnav.  I've seen videos of it; pretty snazzy.  But imo leave vnav out of my GA. :)  There also is no XM weather, radio, or synthetic vision.  Now that would be cool; sat radio.  Actually wait the F1 Mustang allows you to pipe in wav files maybe this does as well.

Don't care about XM radio or weather much personally, but Vnav does sound like it might have some signifigance.  I know that the old Mustang didn't have that feature but that was many years ago, so I thought they would have added it by now.  I suppose if they haven't added it in the third incarnation then they aren't going to.  Is the Vnav feature something that real G1000/King Air pilots use often?  Do all G1000's come with Vnav, standard, or is it an expensive option that some don't have?
