One day when Mindstar releases it's 430/530 will there be an update so we can use those gps models instead of the reality xp stuff since it will have updated nav data every month

Yep.  More questions than answers with the Mindstar products so far from a user's perspective.

If end-users see value when the products are released, I'm sure developers will follow.  Until then, it's a no-brainer to focus on where the installed base is.

I'd like to correct an earlier post I made about landing lights. Earlier I stated that our 3d landing beam on the V2 Duke will be better with dark runways. In fact the opposite is true: the lighter the runway texture the more light the beam emits, or at least that is how it appears, and this is similar to our existing RealAIr Legacy landing light. Apologies for getting this the wrong way round earlier.

My mind went to this thought yesterday when I was thinking about the Duke and RealityXP.  The market may have to move since RealityXP doesn't seem to have any migration to work with P3D...that is, assuming the Mindstar version does.

This is fantastic news!

I've always been in the minority of simmers in that I find the Turbine Duke dull, uninspiring, overpowered and just not a lot of fun to fly....(I don't mean anything about RealAirs rendition - it's perfect! - I just mean the plane itself sends me to sleep)............ but I absolutely LOVE the Piston Duke; it's my favourite ever twin in FS, and I've clocked up about 300+ hours in it.

So fantastic to hear the Piston Duke will get an update; I will gladly pay for it.

+1 but I really hope that there will be some kind of a discount for owners of the other Duke package.

I doubt we can offer that, but there will certainly be a discount for Piston Duke V1 customers, and for customers of the former dual package for both Dukes, which we are going to discontinue as a dual package. This upgrade contains a huge number of new features which are not always apparent on the surface but as you delve in will become apparent. Having spent the best part of a year doing this, we have to make some return, so for the time being the Turbine and Piston versions will be sold as unrelated, separate products.

We are aware that a lot of customers tend to see the two Dukes as a kind of "marmite" option where some love the piston and find the Turbine not to their taste, but equally it applies the other way around. So for that reason as well we intend to offer the different engine types as separated products.

Perfect! That's what I meant. The dual package or the V1 Piston. I have both dukes. :)

Charles.

Looks matters alot to me. The "feel" of the VC wasnt really there before, but screens from V2.0 looks really good. This update will get me down from a fence I've been sitting on way too long. I'm almost ashamed to not have this in my hangar already, but will surely buy it after the update.

Oh, and piston all the way!

Rob,

I was just rereading the B60 Flying Guide.  Got to wondering if any of issues with leaning mixture you mentioned are improved in 2.0.

Hi Gregg,

As you might be aware the exaggerated mixture leaning in FSX is hard coded and quite difficult to overcome. What we have done is to delay the need to reduce mixture to a higher altitude than before but once leaning is required, the usual hard coded exaggeration kicks in. It is a long term project to address but requires more research and experimentation. One thing we have achieved is to vastly improve the change in engine/prop note and volume as you pull the prop controls back for lower rpm, and also an improvement in the Manifold pressure falling off with altitude through better implementation of the turbochargers.

best wishes,

Ok, works for me.  One other question we're all going to be having soon is do you have any plans for P3D2.0?

Is an update for the Turbine planned?

As far as I know, a small minority of our customers might on their own accord have migrated our aircraft to P3d using tools at their disposal. I don't know enough about P3dv2 to comment. The overwhelming majority of FSX users are happy with this platform and forums similar to this give a sometimes distorted impression of support for other platforms. There are licensing factors too. I think our atittude is that we don't at the moment support P3D migration but also don't claim a right to stop users from doing so at their own risk.

We'll see what the response is to the piston Duke upgrade. It takes a lot of work and time to integrate new features and we have to justify the effort with reasonable returns in a market that is actually not growing in overall terms for almost all developers (if we are all honest about it!). We have other new projects too, so we'll have to make an informed decision when the time comes.

IMHO the T Duke is wonderful as it is. The internal and external were already a large upgrade from piston V1.

I'd prefer RA work on something entirely new (after the V2 comes out of course).
