July 29, 201312 yr Congratulations are in order for Orbx and their brilliant FTXGlobal texture set. These Aussies have managed to turn Texas into the lush green paradise that we who dwell here always knew it could be! Our semi-arid desert home now rivals the Garden of Eden itself and I humbly bow down to Orbx and their global genius. Veritable 'Wizards of Oz', indeed!!!!! I'm just giddy about it, and I'm debating whether to plant rice, bananas, or maybe even cultivate coffee in my magical backyard garden. I'm petitioning Governor Rick Perry to rename Texas, "The Emerald State". Oh, and if I may quote Gov. Perry directly about Orbx's latest product, "Oops".

Perhaps you should look into what you are buying before you criticize and make silly posts as It states very clearly that these textures replace the Default textures only and you need NA OpenLc to Place them correctly in your scenery. Is it ORBX fault that you can't be bothered to read into what you are buying. For what it costs i think it amazing .Textures that cover the whole world with added night lighting for $99.go to any other scenery developer and see what it would cost there. steve http://www.orbxsystems.com/forum/topic/61929-ftx-global-what-is-it-all-about/ REX SKYFORCE 3D steve howlett

Actually, here in Lubbock, the countryside DOES bear a striking resemblance to that of Ireland now that I think about it. By Jove, Orbx nailed it. And of course you're right, I should have realized that none of this is Orbx's fault; rather, it's my fault for not reading that the $99 texture set won't work properly without additionally purchasing the requisite proper OpenLC file(s), none of which has been released yet, despite the main textures themselves having been released. Steve, may I wish you a hearty 'Top O' the Evening' to you as we Irish Texans here on the lush Llano Estacado say, and thank you for setting me straight. SO, in short, it doesn't work but it should work if you buy more stuff but you can't buy more stuff because it's not available yet but that doesn't matter because Orbx did an amazing job and it's my fault for not realizing any of this. I finally get it! There is science, logic, reason; there is thought verified by experience. And then there is the realm of certain Flight Simulator add-on developers..... Just turn on the stormy rainy weather presets....and watch now that grass will grow and turn green. Global warming for sure. Hey, are you being sarcastic? I can't tell because you're Canadian.....
July 29, 201312 yr ....you could have considered just adding your 'view' (I was once told that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit, and in this case I agree), to the other "FTX is too green" threads, and saved us all a couple of clicks. ....if you hadn't worked out already that FTX products are biased toward green........ where've you been??

Where have YOU been? And why is Beib even still hanging out with Lil' Twist after all the trouble that guy has gotten them both into??? I swear, I can't even concentrate on simming properly with this stuff going on.

It's pretty simple actually, if something was a 'desert' texture before, you'd expect it to be a 'desert' texture afterwards, just ORBX'd up. While they may fix the issue upon the release of the landclass, you do not assume the mere installation of a ground texture set is going to give you a completely different representation on the exact same landclass and it's pretty silly that they've made it that way. They should've stuck to the 'default' styling of the ground textures with the base pack as much as possible and gone all out on the unique textures that come with the landclass for each region - that way people won't be complaining that there's now greenery where they should be desert. July 29, 201312 yr Funny thing is that I see a clear improvement in some places compared to FSX default textures WITHOUT changing the landclass! For instance my home country, the Netherlands, looks a lot more like it should with FTXG, and that, as I said, without changing the landclass...! So even though this product does indeed need landclass to get the most out of it, it DOES already improve some places just be giving more appropriate textures! Obviously the opposite can also happen, that a certain change of textures works out bad in another location. Like Texas, apparently. In defense of the OP I have to say though that the FTX Global product page ITSELF doesn't really make it clear you should buy additional landclass to get the most out of FTX Global... Yes, you COULD have read it a hundred times on the Orbx forum or here too, but in the end you could say that people should be able to get ALL mandatory information about a product on the product page itself, so without having to read all about it on various forums... It is very common on this forum (and others too) that people are told they should have 'looked into it' but imho that is NOT fair... The product page should be enough for a customer to decide to buy something or not and in this case the product page is simply lacking. And btw the post that steve linked to was posted AFTER the release of FTXG. I am playing the devil's advocate here because I absolutely LOVE FTXG and to me it's one of the best addons I have ever bought for FSX but again, the product page itself does NOT clearly state that you need other addons to get the most out of FTXG. The fact that is states 'Works with all 3rd party landclass products' doesn't mean it NEEDS them and the fact that it states 'Expandable with Orbx openLC packs!' does neither. I knew all that because I frequently visit the various forums but not every FSX addon buyer does that.
