Download of Past Purchases at FSPilotShop

Recommended Posts

I've bought several things from them.. Although most within the past 14 months.

I just checked my account and all orders have some type of "xx downloads remaining" column.   So, it's not like you can only download something once and that's it.  Perhaps the OP used all of his available downloads.

Do you expect your pc supplier to replace it free? If not, why should the download supplier replace your downloads free?

Because bandwidth is cheap? How about if the software you need to redownload is relatively small in size?

How about more efficient and cheaper ways to distribute products (*legal bittorrents, works great for Linux distributions)?

I don't trust any service or anyone else to cover my butt. I do it myself. I never have an issue.

I like the way you think! :good:

How about DVDs are cheap? Little USB thumb drives are cheap? The buyers responsibility is small in size? Cheaper does not mean free forever.

Yes, DVD are cheap, most of your cost goes towards postage. I remember ordering several Linux distributions and getting them delivered on DVD either for a small fee, or for the cost of postage.

this is not Flight sim shop which abbreviated is FSS

OP get your story and title straight before posting

+1

One should be careful when starting a thread the the info they provide is correct. 3 pages later till we find out the OP was wrong with the shop title.

And if you lost them did you get new copies for FREE?

Yep, Simmarket and Flight1 are AFAIK unprecendented in providing lifetime download access to your purchased products; without further charge.

Both deserve recognition and kudos for it.

Hope you don't mind adding RealAir Simulations to that list! We have customers re-downloading products from 2004 and have never charged a penny. We'd go further back than that except FS2002 products have not been asked for since round 2008. We do ask customers to check in with us if they want to install products over a (generous) certain number of times but that's to make sure the original customer and not a pirate is attempting to install. We have some customers who are reluctant to backup or keep their details so it can be a lot of work, and quite large bandwidth charges - in some cases wiping out any profit at all - but generally speaking customers are reasonable and fair.

We all lose stuff occasionally and I don't think vendors should exploit that. Asking for a backup fee in the first year is in my view bad practice.

That is illegal in some countries, you should be able to re-download a digital product, nearly all online digital platforms do it, it's not 2001

Yeah I specifically buy at FSS (FlightSimStore) and other vendors because they allow free downloads later, and I avoid buying from vendors that don't allow this.

I just went and checked and FSS still allows free downloads of everything I've ever ordered there over the years like they always have.

OP please correct your post subject/title FSS is not charging for downloads and this is causing people confusion.

How about your iTunes that you lose?

How about in the USA? It doesn't matter where you are located, it matters where the store is located.

It's a shame that this thread was not clear in the original post about the particular store in question.

It is Flightsim Pilot Shop which the OP is talking about. NOT the FlightSim Store, which does not charge to redownload purchases.

The original post should be edited to avoid this confusion as it is causing bad PR for FSS
