PRO ATCX (Pointsoftware) forum site down

I tend to state that the dev is simply overwhelmed with everything: the program and its bugs, the support.

I bet he is. The main problem is that he started the project as a simple ATC addon... so why the **** he called it PRO and also why he gave the addon a pro price tage is beyond me!!! Anyway, he once (and seriously) said on his forum that he started to add all kinds of functionality only because customers requested it and not because he PLANNED to do so when he started off... which says enough. It's a pity I didn't read that before I bought the addon. He is into something he wasn't qualified for nor really interested in... so hence the delay and so on. He simply doesn't have a clue what he started and now he is in big trouble. Time will tell if he can pull it off anyway! Would be nice, of course.

Not that I really care: I haven't used ProATC/X since february or something. I am all into GA anyway for which the default ATC is a lot better suited.

I also agree with Rick , i would get kind of mad if i were to purchase this product right now an get all these bugs an not receive any support by the developers . I might even ask for refund the same day.  I don't expect a bug free product but at lease offer some support or reply to your customers. I will be okay if i receive a reply like in 2 business days or so but if they take long to reply or like some customer reported not even getting respond at all, then customers have all right to feel how they feel now.

There is something really wrong IMO. If you visit the main website and look at the downloads/updates section, the last update was in May! Bearing in mind that updates prior to this date were coming thick and fast, a couple a week at one stage, so something is amiss. I am really sorry if the dev has been ill, and I believe this is the case, or has been, but perhaps if he was to post some kind of assurance to customers as to what exactly the problems have been and some kind of release date he is working towards, then perhaps it would alleviate all the fears and negative rumours.

Lovely. I just purchsed pro-atx yesterday, received the unlock code immediately but - do not get any response to unlocking attempts. Neither online, nor per e-mail. Not in the forum (down again). I will allow reaction time until end of next business day, then catch up with legal. And, of course, I will keep all available forums informed - I think that is the best way for us to deal with such issues.

I'm not a lawyer, but if a developer continues to sell a product, knowing full well that the they can't offer support, or worse still know that the business is going down the pan, and continues to sell the product, then I would think that almost tantamounts to fraud.

BTW I'm throwing this out as a general opinion and not at any particular person or persons.

I wonder if a joint lawsuit could be filed?

I have been following the last few day's conversations here in this thread (one post by me) and, when able, on the PATC site and a very disturbing thought is forming in my mind. Every post but one (still showing some signs of positive opinion) that refers to the state of this program, has been downright angry and apathetic with regard to the state of and/or the future of PATC and the appearance of an update/fix any time soon. Assuming that this is being read by the developer and or the PATC mods, regardless of whether or not the client is correct/justified in his/her complaints, the company (being concerned about its reputation and future sales) usually steps in with some attempt at damage control and a statement as to what, why and when.

Still there appears no desire to calm the waters and put some obviously very concerned minds at rest.

I expressed my concern via PM to Clive (Also conspicuous by his absence) a long time ago. I received an assurance which quite honestly is wearing out a bit now. I will not ask again.

Rick.

Exactly the same happened with his previous ATC program FSCom for FS2004.

Which is why I stayed well away this time, once bitten ect.

Read this Avsim review of FSCom and realise that Mourad has pulled this kind stunt before.

Shame on me for not doing my research some months ago. Quite frankly the above post scares the heck out of me.

Sure, you're right Rick. I mean what businessman in their right mind would allow all the attacks and negative feedback to appear on forums, without intervening with a constructive and realistic response. How difficult can it be to calm the waters and explain to people what the problem is, or has been. If it were me, I'd be in there like a shot...

Update: Mourad has reacted & sent me an e-mail. At least I am now able to understand why I had trouble, and the program works. That´s the baseline. I will keep you informed HOW it works for me, in order to give pro-atx a feedback.

For me this calms down the water.

Shame on all of us Rick. I thought what I posted on the PATC forum a couple of days ago might have triggered a response from Mourad, but to no avail.

After reading that he has done this before, I do not see any hope for the future of this program.

Also Clive, if you are reading this, how about  an opinion from you. I know you are hiding.

High Julian, If you look at the name of that FS9 program, you will notice that unlike other programs that progressed to FSX coverage that just added an "X" to the title (i.e. My Traffic X) these two names are totally different. I wonder why???

Regards,

I agree Rick, it is not hard to come to that conclusion.

Is the program totally unusable or has it just not achieved the perfection we all desire? I looked a it early, but the price scared me off and I know there was alot of hype of the second coming for ATC. So now I'm asking, despite the drama is it better than say  RC4, PFE, and VOX? Or is the issue that the forums are just down and the developer hasn't made any updates in awhile?

There is a lot of bugs Vincent. And in some countries, it has too many sectors, where you have to change freq every 10 seconds. Been waiting for a fix for a very long time.

Have now uninstalled it, and have gone back to using RC4  ( for north america) and PFE. for the rest of the world.

I am tempted to try VoxAtc, but not sure about how it interacts with AI.

I did find it slightly odd that Clive has been active over on the aerosoft pfpx forum but not on the Pro-Atc forum. My copy of Pro atc is now also shelved. I've gone back to radar contact for my offline flights. I to wish I had done more research before buying, I like many others never knew the developer had done similar in the past.

I have started another thread on this forum asking for advice and comments on VOX ATC. It sounds like another big cash outlay to get the voice diversity, but the rest of the program looks closer to what I am looking for realism wise. If it will work for me with MTX, I am very tempted to go for it.

I tried the free trial offer 3 years ago and couldn't get it to work (for me) with UT2, but as I said, if things work out I might just get my credit card out again.
