And I really don't understand the arguments for a 2D overhead panel! It's just as easy to bring up a 2D like view of the overhead from the virtual cockpit with the built in views that come with the plane!

Really, really worth considering! Those additional fixed VC views may cause more of a fps hit than the 2D views, but this should not be much of a problem, neither at the ramp nor at CRZ FL!

EDIT:

And, apparently, PMDG have just opened a Swedish subforum for their T7!!!

I regret bringing up the damn 2D panel thing. Sorry if I have compelled anyone with the "amateur" word. And that said, you just dragged me back into the discussion. A theoretical one, however.. I promise.

Theories cannot be described as common sense. Common sense is what all people would agree on. What you're calling a common sense here is a matter of individual preference.

Secondly, 2d/3d are merely "visualizations" to what we humans see. It has nothing to do with how the human eye sees around. There are other senses that adds more dimentions to what you see.

If you call what you see as a pilot a "3d" cockpit, then that is your own opinion. "I get into my 3D cabin of my car every time I drive to work". How does that sound?

I have flown a Diamond with an instructor. I drive cars, and ride bicycles. It doesn't occure to me to call things around me 3D.

Why am I being attacked here? Simply because I see things in a different way?

Btw, yes I use a couple of screens and I like the option to pop out displays. When it comes to sim aviation, I like the instrumentation, the systems, the calculations. Im not the VFR person, and I am not saying anyone is btw.

Comparisons should be fair and valid.

Yes I meant TrackIR rather, not EZDOC.

The lack of a popup won't stop me from enjoying my favorite airplane ever.

My typewriter* will be sorely missed...

...actually no, not really.  Technology advanced and I no longer really have a need for it.

Seriously - it's 2013, can we drop that discussion now?

*Yes, I did write my some of my school papers on a typewriter.  There were computers around, but it wasn't to the point where you were assumed to have one at home, and I guess my parents didn't want to spring for one (and probably had a little feeling of "well I had to use one, he can use one too!")

But there are people who might need it. (You can sell your old one I guess :P)

And that old 8 track player   ALL my planes have "2d" panels in the form of EZDOK.  Yes, even a caveman knows that B)

No, you are being "attacked" because you blatantly insulted everyone who uses 3D virtual cockpits by labeling them "amateuers".

You're not the victim so you'll find no pity here. Just be more respectful next time and the discussion won't go sour. B)

I try - I basically translate directly over from how I'd say it in Norsk (which may also be wrong, because the last time I spoke it to someone was probably 2006...haha)

Hi Martin,

They are indeed...  Not to mention the FMC based fueling system as well as the Ground Operations Turn Management system which in itself is a full simulation!

Im not looking for getting no pity. For me saying that "bluntly" was a suitable retaliation at anyone saying "come out of your stone age, it's 2013" discreetly to whoever utters the 2D

Word, over and over.

I know you're gonna enjoy it anyway! Especially together with that spectacular Dubai by FlyTampa, what an unbeatable combination. I for certain will be going a lot in and out of OMDB in Emirates colors! :)

Hey, regarding 2d...I easily get a 8-10FPS gain (stupid mouse cursor bug). Debate over for me ;)
