September 1, 201312 yr All good things eventually come to an end.The PMDG MD1-1 was state-of-the-art when it was released in 2008, and still today holds up pretty well. However, with the pending release of the PMDG 777X I really don't know when i will fly my lovely MD-11F again. These newer PMDG releases (NGX/777X) are just in a different league compared to their MD-11. I only have good memories the "11", after some 300 flights with her since I purchased it. The Autoflight is probably one of the most clever and underrated there is... So here are some images of what might be my last long haul with the PMDG MD-11 for a very long time. Tokyo Narita Intl. to Stockholm Arlanda (RJAA - ESSA). Flightplanning with PFPX (still getting used to this software) I choose the now defunct carrier Arrow Cargo for this flight. Callsign "Big A" B) Paint is made by Lee Marrow. Enroute to wpt LALIR which is in Russia. The age of this lady is unfortunatly showing in the VC graphics. But still good enough for me. September 1, 201312 yr 11 is my preferred aircraft, maybe more than NGX. I love fly with MD11 it's a superb aircraft to fly, espedially for my long haul, this is why I think not to purchase 777. I'm very happy with 11 and its majestic power. September 2, 201312 yr Amazing shots and tribute! I have forgone my ability to fly her when I upgraded to FSX. I miss her dearly and she was and still remains my favorite aircraft. I'll be purchasing the 777 but I'd much rather be purchasing the MD-11. Unfortunately I just can't bring myself to pay $80 for an FSX version when PMDG has openly stated they are no longer going to support it nor allow third-party mods in an attempt to keep her up to date with other high quality add-ons.

September 7, 201312 yr Moderator SAS443, After reading her story, I now feel sorry for your poor MD-11! I fear she'll be relegated to the FlightSim 'Boneyard', where she sits day after day, watching all of the shiny new kids on the block go off to play, while she sadly dreams of past adventures. :Cry: I implore you... keep her around! It wasn't her fault that the Media gave her a bad reputation, and even today her sister ships are performing humanitarian missions, like the Orbis 'Flying Eye Hospital'. Keep her at her job; hauling the Mail! Very nice job with the photo story!
September 7, 201312 yr Very good story and set of pictures! I know when I finally get around to getting the 777, the MD-11 won't be sent to the graveyard! As of now, there is no end for the MD-11 in sight, she'll be flying for a looong time.
