FPS. What FPS do you get?

Featured Replies

I can confirm, that frame rate in the T7 is very good.

As long as you remember to set the PFD and ND refresh rates to 15They are set higher on first install.

Certainly better frame rate than the NGX.

I'll check later for the exact percentage increase I'm seeing.

I got my 777 today and after a few short test flights I can say, that the performance on my system (i5 3570K, GTX 670, 16 GB CL9 RAM, Win 7 64 bit, all on SSD) is noticeably worse than with the NGX. With the same settings and with real weather (FSGRW), I get 23-27 fps in the NGX, sitting on EDDK 32R, ready to go and in the same situation, the 777 shows 15-18 fps. Still flyable and enjoyable, but miles away from "even better than the NGX".

Wow, what a contrast to what others say.  I must say your experience would have been the predicted one I would have guessed.  I'm going to wait til a few others weigh in because I wouldn't want the T7 if it performs that much worse than the NGX.  Typically you're flying the T7 out of larger metropolitan terminals which doesn't bode well for performance.

But did you adjust the PFD and ND refresh rate to 15?

This foxed many of us until we made the adjustment.

Frame rate should be better than the NGX if you adjust the refresh rate.

I use the Vsync 1/2 60Hz and lock my FPS @30 in game, I've yet to fallen below 30FPS now
even at LVFR's MIA I'm 30FPS, wihtout; my FPS would be at approx 22FPS in the VC

I'm seeing, at EGLL...

18% better frame rate in the 777 than the NGX.

But as I said, you must set the refresh rate for PFD and ND, as after install it's automatically set to max. Thus the initial install performance impact.

Would someone tell me how to change PFD and ND display refresh rate to 15 I would like to give it a go.

It's in the FMC - menu - PMDG options - performance (I think).

For what it's worth, I'm still struggling with the 777 performance. A test flight from Aerosoft EHAM to Aerosoft EHRD dragged me down to the teens, FPS wise. With an O/C'ed i7 3970x at 4.8ghz and a 6GB Titan I was hoping for better. Will keep tweaking.

I'm glad you are asking about this using QW757 as a comparator.  I find the QW757 is not as easy on performance as it should be a simple as it is.  I find the NGX performance roughly 20% worse than the QW757, which isn't as much as it should have been I would have thought.  I am thinking about the T7 too and from what I read here it's easier than the NGX which is remarkable.  When folks tell you they 'are getting 30 locked' or whatever there really is so little you can derive from that with knowing exactly every detail of the scenario, but by comparing against another plane you'll have something useful if you can get someone to reply who has the QW.  Sounds like it will be somewhere between the NGX and the QW.

Personally I have the same frames on QW as on 777, 777 might even be better

i have a 2600k OC to 4.8GHZ and GTX 770 and my frame rates are very good most of the time except at some airports like flytampa KBOS i get around 14-18fps, 1 tweak impimented in the fsx.cfg and frames set to unlimited.  i cant figure it out.

I get roughly the same fps in ngx and 777. ~38 fps with hidden mouse cursor and 27 fps with visible mouse cursor

In the ngx introduction manual it was recommended to run bojote's online tweaking tool, that section seams to be removed in the 777 introduction manual.

My question is why they removed that section, has there been discovered any new drawbacks with that tweak tool?

Wow that's awesome to hear!

Similar system as mine.  That doesn't sound attractive to me, but it's hard to tell from what you're saying.  Can you post your fsx.cfg?  I'd also like to know the rest of the relevant configuration settings such as:

1.  Cloud bit depth?

2.  VC zoom factor?

3.  Mouse cursor visible or not?

4.  AA settings in your graphics driver

5.  What is the 'Teens'?  19?  13?

Thanks in advance.  I'd like to jump in but won't tolerate poor performance.  I can down-adjust settings in FSX some as well.

I don't have any traffic enabled in FSX as I don't need it, I fly only on Vatsim, I have set all my textures to 1024, I have traffic disabled at any Aerosoft airport, from Aerosoft menu, don't need it, I have GSX. My frames in NGX and 777 are 30 locked if I move the mouse in vc I have 23FPS, but as the arrow disappear my FPS are back to 30. I don't understand why on PMDG aircraft the mouse bug is so intensive, I have other high end Aircrafts, but I don't see this bug so intensive, only 1-2FPS, which, in my opinion is very good. Maybe PMDG could investigate this and resolve the problem, I don't think they can't, if other have done it, PMDG could do it.

No, but as said in some situations it would. Remember that VSync already takes care of frame rate limiting for the most part. If you use VSync 1/2 and let's say you fly the trike, then of course you're going to see jumps and drops. That's because in this situation FSX prefers to run at 100+ FPS so then VSync is not enough. Now try a slightly more demanding plane like the 737 and you should see it's already less.

I agree, or let's say this is exactly what I am experiencing on my rig. I have been flying the NGX for the last two years with VSync 1/2 without any FPS limiter (external or internal). This has kept my FPS steady around 30fps most of the times (I don't use Ai traffic as I usually fly online) and in the most demanding addon airports with overcast and multilayered cloudy weather I have dropped to no lower than 25.

However, on T7 I have seen that this works only if I set the refresh rate of displays to unlimited: any other setting, 15, 8 or whatever else, induces stutters.

Overall I reconfirm what I have already said in other posts: the T7 is just slightly worse than the NGX on FPS (and the mouse pointer issue has more impact on it than it has on NGX) but it is still very well flyable under all conditions.

Well you are using add-on scenery. Hence the performance drain.

How does the 777 compare to the NGX?

You certainly should be getting more though, but that depends on how high you have your sliders, and AA, etc.

Forget tweaking. Try a clean un modified cfg first. Just in case over tweaking is yoiur issue.
