March 5, 201412 yr skipper72: do you have AffinityMask set on your FSX.cfg? I stopped getting the 8 minute freezes after setting that parameter in my FSX.cfg. My number is 14, as I have a 3570k i5 processor. cheers -E Enrique Vaamonde
March 14, 201412 yr Oh my.. I just wanted to buy it but now I see really a lot of people have problems with freezing and CTDs. I'm not very fond of buying a very expensive freeze machine. A bit confused here. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
March 14, 201412 yr I get very short hesitations with Milviz's excellent F15E sim; it's just a question of how much is being thrown at the CPU and RAM. You have to learn how to optimize for such deep aircraft. It's no trivial task to attempt to do so in the coding of same, for sure. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
March 15, 201412 yr The freezing that I have been experiencing has all but made the 777 unflyable for me. The freezes have developed from recoverable to unrecoverable. The latest flight CYVR-WSSS froze over the Alaskan Panhandle at bedtime. I left the flight the entire night and the flight did not recover. I had to end process from the task bar in the morning. I have also tried restarting the flight via FSUIPC and the sim freezes at the same point every single time with AI on or off. I hope that PMDG has a fix for the aircraft or has some understanding of the conflicts because as it stands now I can not fly this airplane. I have never had issue like this with a PMDG aircraft. I trust resolution to the problem around the corner. Mike Keigley

I edited the number to 14. I reloaded the last flight that froze and kept sailing past the freeze point. So thanks for this suggestion so far it is working. Mike Keigley

March 18, 201412 yr What's your processor model? My AffinityMask at 14 is good for an i5 without hyperthreading. If you are using an i7 such as the 3370k or the 2600k you should probably use 84. Enrique Vaamonde

March 18, 201412 yr Hello I did the tutorial flight on 777 to OMDB I was flying over the sea then bam it frozen on my fsx. It's a good model of the 777 but it freezes on my fsx I hope there be a fix soon
March 18, 201412 yr No to 84 with HT=OFF. It should be 14. That's exactly what I said. If you're using an HT enabled processor your AF should be 84. If you have no HT then AF = 14. Enrique Vaamonde
March 20, 201412 yr I believe my experience with freezes during flight is primarily caused by over pushing the graphics (card) settings. However, I'm still at a loss with FSX crashing with a fatal error on exit after flying the PMDG 777. Harry Sung
March 21, 201412 yr Hi I see I'm not alone with freezes and crashes. Either PMDG screwed us or I got a bad download which I doubt. Have been threw the forum and nothing seem to help it just freezes anytime I change views or make inputs with the controls. I hope PMDG has a fix for this soon. Also I see there is no longer a 2d cockpit. So help from anyone would be nice all my other PMDG planes work fine.
March 21, 201412 yr PMDG T777 is good for the bin...Unless they fix the issues quick. Their product is unusable and unstable. It does not happen on the 737 NGX. I spent $90 of my money to something that does not work properly, tweaks after tweaks. The product overall is good but these darn bugs are making it look really bad and fustrating. Their support is quiet.....Not bueno. Regis Regis Biassala
March 26, 201412 yr Hello, yet another joins the club. I can tell you that I have an i7-4770k with 8Gb of high-end RAM. The video card is the EVGA GTX780 superclocked. All settings are per Nick N. and UTraffic is set at 40%. My unused add-on airports are disabled except for the ones I'm actually flying out of and in to. I'm a new owner of the PMDG777 and have just begun flying her. Last night on my flight from KLAX-YSSY I got the freeze about an hour in to the flight. So I did the one thing I thought of that might help - I eliminated the 2x Sparse Sampling in NVidia inspector. Then began another flight this morning KLAX-PHNL. Yes, another freeze climbing out of FL25,260 to FL320 in LNAV/VNAV. Task Manager shows FSX not responding and I had to end the flight through TM. I gave it time, but it never restored on its own. I've read this thread all the way through and know of nothing else to do. It's very frustrating after doing the LONG turnaround, much less the short. Using the PFPX planner, great details and preparation, etc.. I'm about to give up and go back to FS9. I don't know if it's FSX, PMDG, a combination of both, or what. But... it should not be this hard to enjoy such a fantastic hobby!
March 27, 201412 yr Sorry to hear Chuck, it is frustrating indeed. Have you tried the AffinityMask setting mentioned above? It did work for me. There are other users who solved the problem by updating to the latest version of the Realtek sound drivers. If you are a Realtek user, that is. cheers -E Enrique Vaamonde
