September 22, 201312 yr "and cockpits spotless" spot on I would also prefer at least one repaint variety with a like-new cockpit. I have never allowed any passenger in my plane to bring food and would polish and enjoy cleaning and wax her nearly as much as flying. Yes, some like them new, and some like them used. I just kind of prefer being the pilot that gets the new plane. Takes seniority I guess.. I often visited a company that restored WWII warbirds to new condition. Would just cost a few extra hundred thousand dollars or so, in addition to the hundreds of thousands for the original (used plane) purchase. In the meantime, I'm sure repaints will happen, and I hope they do well. It's what puts food on the table, and business must flourish.

These planes IRL are not owned by a loving individual that will clean the heck out of it, it is a plane that is a part of a fleet of planes and is flown by people who just fly it for a living this is what any of these planes would look like today. September 22, 201312 yr Brings to mind some of the early photos PMDG showed of the NGX cockpit. People were howling with furor over the filth of the cockpit, yet their reference was an actual working plane. September 22, 201312 yr OK, I didn't buy my copy yet, so how are the fps compared with the CRJ? Thanks. Sent from my GT-I9500 using Tapatalk 4 Alexander Colka
September 22, 201312 yr Commercial Member OK, I didn't buy my copy yet, so how are the fps compared with the CRJ? Thanks. There's a FPS thread at x-pilot: http://forums.x-pilot.com/topic/5741-in-progress-frame-rates/page-2#entry60561 It seems that esp. on older or weaker (mobil) hardware it can get a bit slower than other planes, incl. the CRJ, 777, or the Jetstream. But so far only a handful people have reported FPS issues. Mario Donick .:. vFlyteAir

Does not matter the developer made a decision to model a cockpit with realistic wear, I am glad the developer chose to model wear, it's atleast a 14 year old plane it's not going to look new. September 23, 201312 yr Simply amazing ! I give her 9 out of 10 ! I would give 9.5 if the cockpit windows had some wear and tear, e.g., scratches, smudges, etc..., and reflections ! 10 if you can program the rain drops to move on the windshield ! I always liked that effect of sitting behind glass in vc's. Like that subtle shading some add-ons have around the edge of the interior cockpit glass. Just a note on the scratches and rain. Scratches - We had scratches added in an earlier version of the Saab, including wiper scratches, however, after visiting YSSY and gaining access to a Saab 340, I saw the windows were surprisingly scratch free. So I made the decision to get rid of the scratches and keep the glass clean. I'm not really sure why they are kept so clean. Regarding the rain - Dripping rain, that actually looks good, is not easy to do. We had dripping rain literally less than a month before release, but it didn't look right. We had it running down the window, but real rain collects the water in its path as it runs down the glass, which makes the drips accelerate due to accumulated weight. Then we have to factor in the speed of the aircraft on takeoff which will slow down the rain, and eventually push it along the horizontal axis. Not to mention leaving a streak that dissipates over time. This is the effect we wanted to duplicate, and it simply wasn't achievable within X-Plane at this time. The math was achievable in the code, but it wasn't possible to render it within the sim. We may find a work-around in a future update, but for now, we're satisfied with what we have.
September 23, 201312 yr Goran, take a holiday! Have finally managed to spend a couple of hours with her. Wow, you can tell the work and love that went into this plane. The grime around the switches is a really nice touch - some of the VC textures are the best I've seen in any sim, and the sound? Amazing. Even if the scratches are not realistic I'd defintely be interested in seeing smudges, bug grime, dirt, slight builds up of mold around the edges, reflections off the glass etc. to complement the lived in look of the other VC textures. Also somebody mentioned frames - there's undoubtedly a lot going on under the hood for the systems so it's understandable, but I do get a noticeable FPS hit even while using the lower res textures. Comparing to the Jetstream I'm down between 5 and 10FPS. Naturally turning off HDR mitigates this but I like my HDR... Sure future optimizations to XP will help out in this respect, and overall it's an amazing plane just to sit in and hear operating, let alone familiarize yourself with all the working systems:) i910900k, RTX 3090, 32GB DDR4 RAM, AW3423DW, Ruddy girt big mug of Yorkshire Tea

A whole point deducted for a moving rain effect and smudges that typically aren't present on airliners for good reason? You're one tough dude! Naturally turning off HDR mitigates this but I like my HDR... I addressed this on the support forums. The short and skinny is that this is pretty much the first aircraft to give HDR a run for its money. There's a lot of "incompleteness" to HDR, and Laminar knows this, but priorities are priorities. It's not something we personally can help (unless we wanted to make a less detailed 3D model). As you said and know, turning HDR off alleviates any issues if you are actually running HDR. As more sceneries come out I see this render hog they call HDR becoming more of an issue. Founder of X-Aviation

Maybe you could make the scratches as an option for those of us that like that look ? It adds a lot to the immersion, otherwise it looks like there is nothing there but air. That would be amazing if you ever figured out the rain effect ! Regards........... AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11. Eric Escobar
