Went very well for me.  I had a 40 minute delay on the ground in Washington but once airborne it was very smooth.  I really enjoyed it this year with PFPX to plan ETOPS and allowing me to follow the fuel plan.  Spoke to 25 controllers and all were very professional.  Only downside was the lousy weather at both airports!

Unfortunately I was busy today so couldn't do it. I then was going to do a flight on the east coast to take advantage but stuff just kept getting in the way.

When's west bound?

I just couldn't get myself to fly, I don't particularly enjoy having to fight 15 other dudes trying to get in my position report. How was the oceanic frequencies this time? Were they as busy as always or was it OK for once?

It was fairly organized. I will not say it was amazing....but controllers over oceanic were handing a million of flights ..... (as you can see from the screenshot) .... I would give controllers a good 8.5/10. Departure took me almost hour and half (to leave Boston) but it was handled quite well, for both departure and arrival for me, I will give controllers 9.5/10

Hhhmmm maybe some of those shiny 777's should simulate CPDLC with squakbox or FSInn. Text would actually fit then.

The running of the 777's LOL that's what it looked like on vatspy.   I looked while I was putting along on in my c172.   Too bad I had to work this morning. It would have been funny to do the alantic crossing in the 172 starting the night prior and refueling it in the air and then  watch all the 777's pass overhead.

I stopped participating in these, because as the picture shows the traffic volume is not even close to realistic.

Last time I did westbound, the Oceanic controller was rude and yelling at pilots, I guess because he was stressed out.

It's just a hobby...not a real job. If people have to behave like that for a hobby then I'm not interested in those sorts of events.

Yeah that is why I do not really do them. I have noticed there are more oceanic controllers online recently and you can have 10-20 pilots with you, much better experience

This was my 10th CTP and as usual the Controllers were amazing and very professional, many thanks to them for getting up so early. My only glitch was just before entry into NAT track X, Frequency did not appear on the frequency list and was text only, something I was not aware of nor told before or after departure, this caused some issues to those seeking Oceanic Clearance.  Also there were some server issues, which I think were caused by the sheer volume of traffic. All in all a classic CTP which must have taken a lot of time to organise, so thanks to the Team.

I used to really enjoy doing these, not participated for a few years now though. It looks busier than I remember too. Are they done every six months?

Yeah, every sixth month, Mars and October

I completely agree. Many of the vatsim events are so busy that I tend to avoid them.

This was going to be my first CTP, but things went all Murphy's Law on me. I had a slot from KIAD to LOWW booked. Got up early (my TOT was about 6:15am my local time) to get everything going.

To start things off, ActiveSky decided to stop working altogether (constant crashes on startup). 'Oh well, I'll just suck it up and use Rex weather or default/Vatsim wx.' Then after I've spent a while setting things up, FS9 freezes and crashes. Threw my arms up in anger and went back to bed.

I feel really bad for wasting that slot. But after all this there was no way I'd have been able to depart even close to on-time. Maybe next year.

Yep. Though many of the more localized Vatusa events I fly a lot have a pretty nice - busy but manageable - traffic flow.
