Stutters

Firstly well done to LM on bandwidth, I was able to download at full speed in less than an hour.  Also the autogen is great in terms of density and transistion.

One problem I've run into that I've not seen for an age is regular stutters.  In FSX DX10, with Inspector and all, the stutters were virtually gone and then just once in a while.  However particular when I'm looking over the wing to the left or right they are occurring frequently.  Frame rate is locked at 30fps and it stays at that, Vsync is checked and I don't see any tearing.  This look for all the world like the stutters I had in FSX until Nvidia fixed vsync in their driver.  Something to do with 1/2 monitor refresh rate or the like?

Anyone come across this and a way to fix?  Do we need inspector?

Thanks
Simon

During Beta I found that the best settings for me was frame rate set to unlimited for the best results. Give that a go, it lets you sim run free and I was seeing frames from 30 to 60 and beyond but overall nice and smooth!

Remember the settings in P3D V2 are not equal to the similar ones in FSX, medium in P3D is not the same as medium in FSX. Lots of settings to play with and best to have a play around with the options screens to get things setup for your system.

I haven't experienced any stuttering and I have left the P3d internal frame rate limiter at 30 fps. If I try unlimited, the frame rate varies from the low 30s to around 55, but the output still looks smooth. I also noticed that using MSI Afterburner to display frame rates, that the frame rate only varied within a few fps (averaging around 39-40) while the internal P3d2 counter was all over the place.

This is what users still dont understand. P3D and FSX dont have the same settings for injection of textures. You need to find what works for you rather than try to mirror the settings thay worked in fsx.

Have patience, play with the settings until you find what works for you.

Yes, I was surprised to see how quickly I had everything on my HD: 4 minutes!!! Copying everything to my USB stick (I downloaded it at work and want to use it at home obviously) took more than 15 minutes…  ^_^

So far I've not been able to improve the situation.  I have tried:

- Unlimited frames

- Low settings (autogen, scenery complexity down to zero, all others at the P3D defaults for my system)

- Nvidia Inspector

I fully accept it something on my PC rather than systematic in the solution, but it's a hard thing to find. I also notice autogen poping up, blurry scenery tiles and I get a black screen on full screen (the simulator continues to run, HDR is off)

Not sure what to try next.

You're not alone, I am also experiencing stutters quite frequently.

You aren't and won't be the only one Simon.

One thing I've also noticed is slow loading of the external model. I think my 2gb card is just too small

I don't have P3D yet, but have played around with adaptive vsync in FS9 and FSX.

First, set the internal frame lock to UNLIMITED.

If using Nvidia Inspector, set Vsync to "Force On", Vertical Sync Tear Control to "Adaptive".

If using Nvidia Control Panel, the same is acomplished by just setting the "Vertical Sync" to "Adaptive".

I've found this to work quite well but some tearing will be visible especially if using TrackIR.

Maybe try it and see how it works...

I noticed in GPU-Z my card had filled it's 2GB.  Not sure what that means to the performance of the simulator but it will be another factor to play with.  My external model is slow too, takes serveral seconds to show up for the first time.

Exactly I belive thats the cause of the stutters I added BP=0 ,and texture max bandwith=80 as its set to 30 by default and it did help

First observation from this discussion is that we will need a list of tweaks that may or may not be required.

Some of us still have what might be termed old computers.
