November 26, 201312 yr The only thing I'm concerned about is that we don't yet know which plane they are developing, but they seem to indicate that it isn't the NGX. If they release a lesser-known plane that not many people will want, then it might not sell as well, which will stop them then from developing further products for X-Plane. If it's a plane that I have no interest in flying, then I won't buy it, even if it has the PMDG stamp. I would however buy an NGX if they released that. At one point PMDG did state, they had to change the the model they were developing for XP, but the community wouldn't be disappointed. My guess it's going to be the DC-6, which would explain why there's not much talk of it for FSX anymore, if development of it was diverted for X-Plane. Austin'd better resolve the "torque bug" soon then, with those two 2500hp radials! "Society has become so fake that the truth actually bothers people".

November 27, 201312 yr If the numbers aren't there, they will not invest. Nevermind just PMDG, I'd wager that this is the mantra being spoken by nearly all flight sim developers as it relates to X-Plane.

November 27, 201312 yr And that's the vicious circle But kind of a self inflicted one. People have been asking forever for certain things to make the sim a bit more accessible, and while the cries don't fall on deaf ears exactly, LR definitely dances to its own unique beat of priorities. Time has passed, and now something with a bit more forceful momentum behind it has arrived to perhaps fill the void that could have been filled by X-plane. I don't think the fight for marketshare and third party attention has gotten any easier. We are all connected..... To each other, biologically...... To the Earth, chemically...... November 27, 201312 yr I was really looking forward to this update! I fly the NGX and 777 exclusively in FSX. I'm not interested in P3D, especially since there are no immediate plans for 64-bit compatibility. If a developer as reputable as PMDG succeeds with an XP add-on, IMHO XP10 will see a boost in interest and popularity. The only airliner I use in XP10 is the Flight Factor 777, and it's obvious how far behind it is, in comparison to PMDG, but I still enjoy the fact aht I will never get CTDs or OOMs, and I love the incredibly smooth performance. Can't wait to hear what the first product will be! On the other hand ... when you ask typical MSFS ^_^ users about their favourite aircraft, they most probably will answer 737 NGX, 737 NGX, 737 NGX, 737 NGX, 747, 737 NGX, 737 NGX, 747, A320, ... When I asked in the german Aerosoft X-Plane forum the users for their favourite aircraft the answers were much more widespread. They don't seem to be this fixated like "I only fly this aircraft, nothing else. And when I don't get this one, I won't purchase anything else." What do the long-term XP users here at avsim think? November 27, 201312 yr What do the long-term XP users here at avsim think? I'm not really tied to one specific aircraft. I have and enjoy the A320Neo, FF 777, FF 757 (which I still need to sit down and go through the manuals.), the JRollon CRJ, and a couple of planes from DDen at the .Org that I should probably look into updates for, One of them is the Goose, which is one of my favorite GA aircraft. I also find I'm using the default GA aircraft a lot more with XP than I ever did with the MSFS series. There's a certain sweet simplicity with the C172, and the C90 is more than adequate for the longer flights. November 27, 201312 yr Moderator What do the long-term XP users here at avsim think? Personally, GA is really where X-Plane stands out for me. I posted some screenshots here http://forum.avsim.net/topic/427414-a-good-time-for-x-plane/ showing how realistic X-Plane can be for low-level flying, which is why I really like Carenado's low-and-slow stuff. I also have the LES Saab 340A which only has radio navigation, and it's great to use (plus, it's the main aircraft used at my local airport), as it keeps you involved instead of just programming a route and sitting and watching. I loved the NGX on FSX, but that would probably be the only PMDG plane I'd buy for X-Plane. The 777 is too big and automated for me to try, so I'd skip that. Now if A2A would release their C172 for X-Plane, I would be very happy.

Agreed right now as it stands, XP10 is an excellent GA Sim, and if you fly on line via VATSIM/IVAO airliner sim. The only area left where it falls down is offline airliner type flights due to the lack of descent AI/ATC. If someone could get Austin to fix this XP10 could be a FSX killer. As expected, the deficiencies in scenery and environment are being improved by the 3rd party devs, just like FSX was. Thanks Tom My Youtube Videos! http://www.youtube.com/user/tf51d
