December 3, 201312 yr Thanks for flying over there, kolaf: great video! Wonder what your sim settings are? Autogen, LOD, shadows, etc? And thanks to you to DarkstarF16. I guess we can say by now it simply is a case of bad luck for me...
December 3, 201312 yr Flight? I never installed Flight...since I never cared for the original philsophy behind it. Not sure why you even asked me that Q. I wasn't asking you specifically, you are quite correct, why would I ? Flight is the embodiment of the simulator I was describing. It was a joke. That fell flat on it's face. Regards,Brian Doney
December 3, 201312 yr I guess we can say by now it simply is a case of bad luck for me... I know it doesn't feel like good luck too you but it is actually, because you have discovered something. What it is, and what the remedy is, right now doesn't matter. It's just a matter of dealing with the frustration. Flying in Norway is not exactly a hardship lol.
December 3, 201312 yr Thanks for all the beta testing, guys. Keep up the good work, and let me know when you have it all sorted  Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
December 3, 201312 yr I wouldnt know were to begin. Clean uninstalll I reckon. Though, just because "others" dont have the problem and your do by no means implies there isn't an issue with it. Ya know how software is!

December 4, 201312 yr Thanks for flying over there, kolaf: great video! Wonder what your sim settings are? Autogen, LOD, shadows, etc? And thanks to you to DarkstarF16. I guess we can say by now it simply is a case of bad luck for me... So P3D, here we go. I took off from ENBM and flew around and could not induce a CTD. I have my configuration set very closely to yours as well. Not much difference in our system specs except my gtx680. I maintained 24-50 fps. It really does fluctuate wildly with shadows enabled. I have disabled veggie shadows, simply kills performance. Now, disabling all shadows except internal and external shadows, fps stays locked at 45, where I have it internally limited, but will go up into the 50's. Locking at 45 is my sweet spot, otherwise TrackIR gets very laggy at higher fps for some reason. Shadows completely disabled was the least stuttery and smoothest experience possible. Now I am going to test it out on my FSX setup and compare... Update: FSX is very fluid in this region pegged around 60fps, limiter set to unlimited. I did see it drop into the low 50's at time, but I am also running EZDOK, Accu-Feel, UT2, FTXG, FSGRW, Shade, etc etc. No stutters, lag, about as perfect an FSX moment you could get really. I am very much on the fence with P3D at the moment...lol. December 4, 201312 yr SolRayz, you've done the common thing of sticking your trackir.exe on high pri?
December 4, 201312 yr Flying in Norway is not exactly a hardship lol. Well, it is without the freeware… This evening I will slowly add that freeware though, step by step, starting with land class. I wouldnt know were to begin. Clean uninstalll I reckon. Though, just because "others" dont have the problem and your do by no means implies there isn't an issue with it. Ya know how software is! I did a clean install. And yeah, I know how software is. Software sucks. ^_^ Update: FSX is very fluid in this region pegged around 60fps, limiter set to unlimited. Thanks for testing! Nice to see so many giving this a try for a fellow simmer! ^_^ So I guess we can conclude there definitely isn't something wrong with FTXG out of the box. Good to know. But I have to say that I am also beginning to wonder why I fly in P3D because I am using some settings that are the same or even lower now and a lot of my add ons aren't (yet) compatible... Then again… I know why I stick with P3D: autogen up to the horizon, a landscape that doesn't change every few seconds, better loading textures, smooth performance with no real noticabe micro stutters, volumetric fog, better VC shadows and the possibility to make it all even better with a new GPU. Plus, very important: support! A future! Dedication from a team! Oh yeah, I will definitely stick with P3D!
December 4, 201312 yr Thanks for flying over there, kolaf: great video! Wonder what your sim settings are? Autogen, LOD, shadows, etc? I don't have it in front of me here at work, but from memory it is something like this: LOD - high (one stop down from max) tessellation - high (one stop down from max) mesh resolution - maximum texture resolution - maximum Scenery complexity - maximum autogen (both) - very dense Shadow - medium, with 12,000 distance fix most everything casts shadows, cockpit, plane, and terrain receives shadows cloud draw distance - maximum clouded density - maximum traffic - around 15% all-round water- -maximum Landing lights illuminate ground is on, together with the lens flare. HDR is off because of black screen problems 4x AA in game and 2X SGSS in NI (with adaptive 1/2 vsync on and limited to 35 frames per second, that's the first stop above 30 in NI) I think that's about it as far as I can remember. If there is anything I missing that you're interested in, let me know. Hardware specs are available under the appropriate link :-) Frank Olaf Sem-Jacobsen
December 4, 201312 yr Hardware specs are available under the appropriate link :-) Thanks for the info! I was interested in your settings because I had a look at your specs yesterday, after watching the video: they are pretty close to my specs, my GPU is even a bit better (GTX580), but I don't seem to get the same good performance as you do. I do have a smooth performance but I am having trouble keeping fps above 30 and that's with building and vegetation shadows off, cloud draw in the middle, no traffic, water at medium, mesh at 5 m, etc. so lower settings than you have. And I also use the default Maule while your add-on plane looks a lot more complicated and 'heavy'. Computers… sometimes I hate them. ^_^

I'm afraid I might have unintentionally misled you a bit. I realise yesterday that my hardware specs were not updated since my GPU upgrade, so I fixed this yesterday evening. You probably looked at them before I had time to make the change, so you'd better take another look :-). At least it won't make you feel so bad, and maybe motivate you for a GPU upgrade :-) Frank Olaf Sem-Jacobsen

At least it won't make you feel so bad, and maybe motivate you for a GPU upgrade :-) LOL That explains it indeed! Good to know 1. that nothing is really wrong with my PC and 2. that a GXT780 does make a difference! I hope to plug one of those in my PC before the end of the year. (Still undecided if I should get the GTX780 or GTX780Ti: the price difference doesn't seem worth the Ti right now.)
December 4, 201312 yr SolRayz, you've done the common thing of sticking your trackir.exe on high pri? Yes I tried this and it does seem eliminate trackir stutter/lag when set to unlimited, but I find limiting to 45 eliminates the lag just the same and the sim is very fluid locked at 45. Now if I go crazy with max settings, HDR, and shadows everywhere, trackir lags regardless. Its interesting to note that I never had trackir lag in FSX, even with the highest settings possible. December 4, 201312 yr I have attached the video since it shows off quite nicely clouds, shadows, and the Norwegian scenery. AA is at 4x, with 2SGSS and 16x AF. When landing I noticed that I have some texture problems with the buildings. I'm not sure if this means that I have not installed correctly or if anyone else is seeing this? Very nice indeed! I never got the hang of doing videos myself, but I always appreciate them. Sascha Rieger | EVO Developer What is EVO • How to get Evo 2016 • FS9 Evolution Forum
