February 22, 201412 yr Commercial Member The flight model is rather good in my opinion, one of the few FSX aircraft that actually can give you some challenge in heavy turbulence. i'm never buying planes that are not PMDG, Majestic, RealAir, A2A... New quality developers will keep rising, existing ones improve. Already I believe FSLabs is about to deliver an A320 which easily matches anything done by those devs. I think proper research is the key... Though then again lowering one's expectations is the best way to avoid disappointments. As I don't expect every addon I buy to be top quality I'm rarely disappointed. Anyway I hope Razbam indeed improves some things in the Metroliner.
February 22, 201412 yr It would help if Razbam would read this but I doubt they will. I think this addon had a lot of promise and I hope it fulfills it.
February 22, 201412 yr Then stay away from this one. I made a mistake and purchased it after i saw VC pictures and after i read some comments. But i am very disappointed. VC looks nice in videos and pics, but it's not so good in reality, i mean in FSX. Flight model is bad in my opinion, and there are too much broken and poorly modeled things for addon at this price. I don't think service pack will make this addon more enjoyable for me, they are focused on things other then flight model and system complexity/fidelity. But i learned a lot. I'm never buying unfinished addons again, and i'm never buying planes that are not PMDG, Majestic, RealAir, A2A... I am also disappointed with the VC, those in the 'sale' images and mine bear little resemblance, it appears 'cartoony' and is way too dark in the day, the instrument panel labels aren't clear or sharp, and my monitor is set to 1920 x 1080 with a good graphics card. Like yourself, I will never buy a 'pre-order' product again, you are held to the whims and failures of the developers.
February 22, 201412 yr An update in a topic about SP1 is on the forum...sorta http://www.razbamsims.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=110&t=526
February 22, 201412 yr I made a great long post a 10min ago, but i lost connection with avsim and that's gone Anyway, @FScamp - agree on FSLabs, can wait for that one. But we know MR. Lefteris, he was PMDG once, and he was main developer for MD11 from what i read in this forums some time ago. That is enough for me. There are very few planes which feels so good in the air(in FSX/FS9) like MD11. But i still disagree on Metroliner fligh dynamics, maybe i have some more expectations from 50$ addon. Probably becouse PMDG MD11 is $59.99 BTW, Leonardo Maddog is 54.96$, PMDG JS41 is $44.95... And there are more much better addons. No, that's realy unacceptable for me Edited February 22, 201412 yr by B247NG Zeljko Budovic
February 22, 201412 yr I do love the Metro - it is real fun to fly with some caveats. I find the flight model OK, however there remains outstanding bugs for those of us who saw no reason to upgrade to Aceleration but instead just patched to SP2 . These bugs don't detract from a lovely plane, but do take away the immersion factor. Switches with the wrong labelling, Engine EGT panels matched to only one engine, Trim in pop up not working. Yaw damper seems not to be working correctly, GPS not working at all. Weather radar not working. I have just read the Feb 22 response from one of the Developers about the Service pack. Good lord! I am at a loss. You have not fixed the GPS because no-one there has SP1.. What the ????? That strikes me as very lame and also makes me despair a SP1 fix is another month at least away - possibly longer depending on whether you bother to install a workstaton with FSX Sp2 only on it. I cannot recall anything in your web page that stated the Metro III required Aceleration. I would have thought surely that a bug like this would have been picked up in the beta trial you ran before full release. I know this has been stated before but it is worth repeating. If you are going to offer a product and price it in the US$50 range -( at this price range products tend to be of a higher quality ), then I suggest you are behoven to meet the public expectation that matches that pricing strategy. 1. Communicate (and not via very uninformed posts via Facebook). 2. Fix the bugs Asap (how about an interim patch that fixes the glaringly obvious)? Gentlemen, you are seriously loosing my interest in purchasing anything from you again.
February 23, 201412 yr But they just explained on forums, buggs are still there becouse development team is using acceleration only, and SP2 buggs are hard to fix becouse of that. This is the reason why GPS and some other things are not fixed... I can't belive i have just read this excuses 80P Zeljko Budovic
February 23, 201412 yr The Metroliner issues raise the question - "When is the buyer entitled to a refund for a faulty product?" If you buy goods from a real store and they don't work, the seller Under Law (in Australia at least) has to be refunded the full amount for goods, there is no time constraint, or if the buyer chooses they may swap the goods for a working product. If the buyer is mislead (again under Australian Law) by the description of the goods as provided by the seller, he again is entitled to a refund AND subject to prosecution by the relevant Government body. Why is it that electronic purchases don't seem to attract these same conditions? It is becoming all too common to purchase download products and the product not living up to the description provided by the seller. Maybe there's and opening here for a 'Code of Practice' to be adopted by the Flightsim community and each seller has to be accredited before they can sell their goods.
February 23, 201412 yr Commercial Member The Metroliner isn't faulty, it just has some bugs which they will hopefully fix soon enough. "When is the buyer entitled to a refund for a faulty product?" How do you define a faulty program? Is FSX faulty as it gives me CTD*s every now and then? Is PMDG 777 faulty as it currently has some problems with its FBW/Trim behaviour?
February 23, 201412 yr Non-Acceleration users can't use most of essencial features, like GPS for example. Wrong switches and some systems logics etc. None of them works with FSX SP2. There is no acceleration pack only requirement in product description, so, It's definitely faulty product. BTW, it's not optimized well also, nobody said this until now and i just remembered - i have better performance with NGX then with Metroliner. Edited February 23, 201412 yr by B247NG Zeljko Budovic
February 23, 201412 yr Commercial Member The SP2 thing is something they should have mentioned for sure, but personally I haven't had any performance problems.
February 24, 201412 yr Disappointing to hear people have had issues with both the add-on and support. Hopefully its sorted soon. As for the add-on itself I have had this from the first Beta through to release. Some of the issues I have read in this thread relate to bugs that were encountered during the beta releases so I don't know why they would still be present for people if the release product is being used. For me the Metroliner flies well and is a lot of fun particularly in rough air and more so when she is flown properly without the AP. It looks amazing inside and out, has an innovative load manager that is visually linked to the model so passengers and cargo appear/disappear as they get added/removed. It sounds really good and the VC is highly functional with great night lighting in particular. Personally I think the original release was overpriced, but I feel the additional models and functionality of the SP will bring it into line with other similarly priced products and will make this a well rounded twin prop for those who enjoy old school flying.
February 24, 201412 yr I too had the Beta version, and all of these issues were present before release, but none of the issues were ever addressed. I still like it. It does fly very nicely, especially, as Jon mentioned without the AP. I love looking out over that long nose. Overpriced? maybe, but look at the price of PMDG 777 (and I know this is not in the same quality). This is nowhere near that price, and as mentioned a few posts previously, even they are having issues with that. It seems that like everything today, the price goes up and up. When (if?) these bugs are corrected, this will be one of the better short haulers available. - Roger
