Steve's DX10 Fixer

I amusing the DX10 fixer and I have to say that my Sim has never looked or performed better. I finally have gotten to the point where I am flying as opposed to tweaking or crying because of an OOM. I highly recommend Steve's fixer and the AVSIM DX10 document by Paul. As with anything YMMV but this has done wonders for me. I primarily fly the PMDG 737/777 and Aerosoft Airbus.

I also have P3D and in my opinion at this point in time FSX in DX10 (with Fixer) is the better sim.

That's absolutely true!

I don't see a mega difference in framerates between DX9 and DX10 BUT..when the FPS is LOW in DX10 it is MUCH smoother than DX9 on my system. Very little stuttering compared to DX9.

All the effects (bloom etc) are much nicer and don't reduce FPS as much as in DX9.

Rarely ever get any crashes now.

Overall a big improvement - it turns a clunky old sim into a nice smooth flight experience.

I'm very happy with the product for reasons already mentioned in this topic, and keep in mind that Steve is constantly updating it.

That's the big thing I noticed, too, and I've got an older 550Ti graphics card.  I got the 777 over the holidays and although I have to shut off autogen to get decent framerates, I've had no problems or OOMs.

i see the same not many more fps,but much more smooth fsx with low fps in dx10

dx10 +1, don't even look at dx 9 any more

I have bought the tool today and switched to DX10. It's really a big improvement for me. Nice shadows (especially self shadowing) and bloom effects and no reduce on the FPS. I think this tool is a must have for FSX.

Seems the vote goes unanimously to DX10. When I tried it I immediately noticed issues with Fly Tampa's St Maartin. So I downloaded the new version. Fixed that. Then off to Johannesburg and other major airports in SA by NMG Trading. Also not so great - black spots where grass is supposed to be etc. Plus, not a really noticeable difference on the image quality and definitely no improvement on fluidity - how can there be when it is running liquid smooth with PMDG aircraft in places like St Maarten and Zurich X etc. I don't get OOM's, not since going to 64bit and using some of the CFG and NI settings. common on these forums.

So my vote stays with DX9 for now. Perhaps I will try DX10 on my kids FSX install and tweak it there first. I'm not for messing up my 100% DX sim by making huge changes in NI, fsx.cfg and shader folders.

I run 4 screens top three for flight bottom one for Apollo/FSMap The only problems I have with Seve's fixer 10 is that when in full screen mode I put one or the other map gauges on the bottom screen I resize on the top screens then drag and drop to the bottom screen. Providing I do not try to resize the gauge or change aircraft settings all stays well but if I do the bottom screen goes black a black and white  spinning circle  appears and that's the end of my Apollo/FSMap gauge for that session I have searched for a fix on different forums but no solutions

You really should change your search engine.
