  • Well I am assuming the thread title is a typo! Nobody got beyond here as far as I know! Good idea for a thread, I happened to pop some screens while looking through aircraft for the Best Freeware A

  • What happened to this thread? I am more into moving pics with sound (not music) than stills now but hey let's see some pics.

  • Here's some old screenshots from around last year. Unfortunately, I go through FS phases due to real life commitments and I'm happy to report that I've been actively flying FS9 for the past few weeks

Love the shot of your DC-8  With all these shots Wingz's, GeyerH yours mines and everyone elses we are really showing the world FS9 still lives. I just got my Photo bucket account fixed up and another site one of the Administrators had recommended to me so thats even more good news B)

Sorry about all that smoke from the cub in the Screens above i hope i dint make anyone sick  :P

I commented on the Youtube page also; lots of attention to detail makes this a very entertaining quarter hour! You can understand why Flight Engineers were a species...

And you Spake the Truth: animated 3/4 view bits!  :Applause:

Just the opposite: I'd be sick without it from time to time (I prefer it from a R-2800)...

That's the beuty of FS2004 you can run the sliders all the way to the right, tweak it as much as you like, add as many sceneries as you wish and not even feel a thing.

My PC specs

Intel Core 2 DUo E7500 2.9Ghz

Ati Radeon 6750 1gb PCI Exprs

8Gb Ram DDR2 800/667 SDRAM

Old Lga775 intel board DG43GT Classic series

Not that powerful at all compared to today's standards and my FS9 runs like a dream.

TONS of Addons my Aircraft directory by itself is 80GB

Over the past couple of years my FS9 went from an External 75GB WD hard drive (filled that up) ( after purchasing a 1TB drive ) I split my partitions in two and ended up transferring my FS9 into the newly created Extended Partition of about 440GB then once the sim has reached it's 300GB mark (leaving me with only 140GB of free space on the extended partition)I decided to buy another 1TB drive and recently transferred my sim to the new 1TB drive. (Feels good to have FS9 running in it's own territory again)

During the years I've spent hours organizing my sim, using the scenery config editor I have sequenced my airport sceneries by ICAO's this helps me know what's installed and what's not that prevent double afcads from occurring.

Furthermore I've used Anti-twin (great utillity by the way) to remove any stray Afcads, double scenery objects (many where found do to the way developers tend to include scenery objects u may already have instead of just listing them in a text for you to decide if you need to download them) ect ect

I've done to much put to many hours to make sure my sim remains clutter free and as stable as can be to start off with FSX. Maybe sometime in the future (since I don't bealive theirs going to be another sim released by Microsoft any time in the near future) (sorry but flight doesn't fall into the simulation category) I will possibly switch to FSX if ever I get a better computer.

Many times I get people asking me why I don't switch to FSX (I answer performance they reply.... "Well it runs great on my laptop" lol but when you compare their screens with mines the difference is very noticeable their running it with no Addons no tweaks no quality sceneries with sliders in the low position) The answer is obvious.

I knew I had this somewhere...

What I was looking for, was a shot of the test you could do on your computer for "FSX Compatibilty".

The computer I have now was purpose built for the then-new flightsim, and it passed the "test" handsomely.

About 25 minutes later it cemented my FS9 relationship, and for 8 years or so I have watched the horsepower race trundle on by...

What's even more amazing is seeing WingZ pc specs!!

I agree wholeheartedly. FS9 is rock solid stable and with the right mix of addons almost as good looking as its unstable and neurotic younger sibling with FTX/ORBX.

I commented on the Youtube page also; lots of attention to detail makes this a very entertaining quarter hour! You can understand why Flight Engineers were a species...

Are you Charl de Toit WingZ?

I stopped using DXt3fixer I now use A utility called AlphaSearcher.exe version2  (something like that) to search for missing Alpha's and MIPS once the textures are found I simply create a batch convert file for those textures with image tool place that in the texture folder and execute it along with nconvert and Imagetool. (Time consuming but effective)

Another thing you can do (not recommended for some but also effective) is resize your textures on heavier Airports or convert your DXt3 textures to Dxt1. If you wish to re-size you can rezize the 1024x1024 textures to 512x512 on heavier Airports ( many say the quality loss is invincible to the naked eye but I found this to be untrue) you can tell the difference although iits difficult to see.

Simple line command to re-size looks something like this

nconvert -quiet -out tga -resize 512 512 -yflip (then the Texture name)

So true, I'm part of a VA that performs Multiplayer events (Most of them fly FSX) i cant tell you how many times (during a long fight) I've heard many of them say (Man my FSX Crashed i have to restart the flight)
