April 4, 201412 yr Holy Batman ! ... we've got cold and long winters up here LOL Yep and still winter here.... But not for long as I'm heading to the airport for Amsterdam. Hope it will be the MD11 before KLM retire them. And I will miss the 2.2 release monday ... Too bad. Sorry Rob... We digress a bit PierreP3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...
April 4, 201412 yr But not for long as I'm heading to the airport for Amsterdam. Hope it will be the MD11 before KLM retire them. I do remember my flight (KLM) from Amsterdam to Ghana (Africa) ... landing a big jet in Ghana was interesting to say the least. But I think I paid about $30 US for a Hamburger in Amsterdam ... ouch But I like KLM, had great service and the flight was excellent even when landing a heavy on what looks like a dirt road ... no jetways (long walk to the shack ... errr, I mean terminal) ... no refueling either.
April 4, 201412 yr Sorry Rob... We digress a bit LOL, he's the one that published the fact that he actually developed an traffic controller for the TRS-80 . So he deserves this
April 4, 201412 yr $30 US for a Hamburger in Amsterdam ... ouch Now I'm thinking of Pulp Fiction... A Royal with cheese  I do hope that was one tasty burger?... how can Jeroen afford a new PC if he has to pay that much for burgers? "We digress a bit"... I also think Rob's done his bit, and there is enough serious info from him... but people won't be happy with all the OT  Actually [serious question]... Rob, did you notice if the Cirrus rendering in strips has been fixed, and I don't suppose they added a non twisty cloud switch?
April 4, 201412 yr how can Jeroen afford a new PC if he has to pay that much for burgers? I couldn't if that was true LOL I never pay more than 1 euro for a regular hamburger. Even when I am in Amsterdam. Rob must have visited the wrong restaurant. ^_^
April 4, 201412 yr Moderator I couldn't if that was true LOL I never pay more than 1 euro for a regular hamburger. Even when I am in Amsterdam. Rob must have visited the wrong restaurant. ^_^ Or as they do in some countries, they have different prices for RICH American tourists! April 4, 201412 yr MD11 as home sweet home for the night ... PierreP3D when its freezing in Quebec....well, that's most of the time...C-GDXL based at CYQB for real flying when its warming up...
April 4, 201412 yr Rob must have visited the wrong restaurant. It was actually at restaurant in a hotel at the airport ... I had an overnight stay ... flights to Ghana aren't daily ... go figure ... but I think that's just standard high airport prices. they have different prices for RICH American tourists! Ghana has different prices for white faces (and I don't mean that in a derogatory way, that's just what we were called), you don't have to be rich (apparently that's assumed). But many of the other countries I lived in or visited had a similar "special price" structure. The trick was to befriend a local, have him/her get a better price and give him/her 1/2 the difference from "my special price" ... at least that's the theory, of course I could have just been played twice!! Anyway, back on topic, since it'll be Monday (or next week) ... I'll just have to torture you folks with another new P3Dv2.2 video this weekend to keep you interested (I've had a few requests). Cheers, Rob. EDIT: although it is an F1 weekend, in Bahrain no less -- we used to live there for a couple of years (think 1970's).
April 4, 201412 yr ould love to see a full overcast in the daytime please Will do Corey ... but just curious, what are you looking for in that scenario ...reduction of light everywhere? I did have one flight that was 100% cloud cover (OpusFSX generated) and the lighting felt "perfect" to my eyes ... then breaking out of the clouds to nice sunny sky with a blanket of clouds below ... it was one of my cloud surfing tests - I'll check to see if I kept the recording ... but will try to get your request in regardless. Cheers, Rob.
April 5, 201412 yr SGSS is hard on 2.2 and 2.1 and I experienced similar gains with SS in 2.1 as I did in 2.2. 2.2. Does AA add anything significant from a visuals standpoint do you know? In your estimation how much processing load can be reduced from reducing AA in clouds? Rob, the NI settings you posted I wholeheartedly agree are a decent compromise w/ the available options we have currently. Nice to know you can choose some SUPERVCAA_64x_4x & 2xSSGS in non-cloud dense areas and get away with it. April 5, 201412 yr Got a request for this ... another quick video ... showing cloud motion ... setup an Observer view and then 128X simulation rate and then used Adobe PP to further speed up the footage by 7X. Cheers, Rob. EDIT: Weather provided by OpusFSX based on actual conditions ... it was very accurate.
April 5, 201412 yr Does the sun effect in the VC get dimished or shadowed-out when there are clouds passing between the VC and the sun? allen
April 5, 201412 yr another quick video Great stuff!.. If it were not for the low texture res on the foreground terrain and building, you could quite easily think it was real.
April 5, 201412 yr Got a request for this ... another quick video ... showing cloud motion ... setup an Observer view and then 128X simulation rate and then used Adobe PP to further speed up the footage by 7X. That's some amazing stuff in there. Though I don't like how clouds still disappear abruptly, like in FSX. Kind of kills the immersion.
