Well my week with Active Sky Next Demo is up and I must say, I am impressed. $50 US plus impressed, no! I just can't justify the cost, but we all know, sooner or later I will plop down the cash. Can only hope for a sale. (sigh)

BTW, works great with OpusFSX Camera Live.

Agree.. some of these price tags make it so hard.. how is the demo? is it easy to uninstall after?

Hey Guys!  For what is worth............if you're a previous owner of Active Sky 2012, ASA, or ASX you can get it for $30.

Just saying in case any of you owned any of these products before.  Hope this helps.

Cheers.

Dennis

nah.. lol. bought Rex 2 with Overdrive for 50 bucks in the fall, two days later it was on sale for 22.. thought that was my weather engine but I can't stand the clouds popping in and out.. Grabbed Rex 4 during the recent Easter Sales.. but curious on ASN, because everyone raves.. but do I want to take a 'chance' at that amount of money.. could get A2A C172 instead... arrrrgh indecision!

Yep, I too found it difficult to justify buying it for $50, but that thunderstorm I took off in in Kuala Lumpur just wouldn't get out of my mind, what with the plane's wings flapping about like a drunken duck, it was the first time I actually thought that I probably shouldn't have taken off in a storm. A week after my trial period was up, I could resist it no more. I have no regrets about buying ASN, and for what it brings to the simulator, I consider $50 to be quite reasonable. Personal opinion, of course.

For all it's faults I'm sticking with REX. I keep thinking hdd space. There are too many airports coming out and with funds limited I'll stick with REX. Even though I do experience an annoying simconnect error on the same flight every time CYVR-PHNL . Very frustrating makes me want ASN very badly...

I have AS2012, Opus and FSGRW, but ASN feels like the best buy by far, it has simply tranformed my FSX. The others are good, but wow, at 50$, ASN is "free"...

Does ASN stop the Cloud Popping?

Yes, at least to such a degree that I don't notice any.

I notice there is a p3d version on their site.. this mean if you move to p3d you have to purchase again?

I have never noticed cloud popping, flashes, awkward weather updates, violent wind shifts, etc since using ASN. It's definitely the benchmark now for a real weather engine.

Ric,

I think you know the only way to get a sale on ASN is if you buy it full price.   :P

Seriously, if you can't afford it, or rather spend the money on other products, then so be it.  But I think the demo showed you the quality of this product.  After all, shouldn't good weather representation be an essential layer in flight simulation?

You'll end up buying it with the PMDG weather radar tied with ASN ;P

I think the price was justified. Any aircraft I fly, over any scenery, anywhere in the world, every flight, I use it.
