For what it's worth, there are several freeware packages out there with equally good textures. I know Luke uses one of them. I can get the name of it when I get home.

Certainly interested in the name. Especially if they are easy to use and not affecting performance more than REX textures would.

You know this is the second time today you stopped me from pulling out my credit card? I am in this "let's upgrade my sim" mood today :-)

My brother's wedding is in 2 weeks.  I've spent enough on the fringe parts of that - suit, custom leather shoes (yeah, thanks bro), general donation, bachelor party, and so on - that I'm just in a frugal mindset, I guess.

I'll post back with the name when I get home.

So Rex is a must have.

FEX is similar to REX and is an application you might want to consider. I have never used it so I can comment on the product. Many people on the OpusFSX  Flight1 Forum use it including the developer of OpusFSX. Only problem, it is not free. It cost $45.00. Here is a link if you are interested. http://www.flight1.com/products.asp?product=flt1fex.

Looks impressive too. Thanx for the info.

Froogelsim has posted an excellent review of ASN on his youtube channel, he goes through the settings in the video.

Might be.  Check your settings in ASN.  I was flying last night trying to record a video and got my [rear end] kicked.

Well after few weeks .....I didn't change a thing.......It works flawlessly with everything they promised .......It changed FSX for good.

I'm thinking of purchasing ASN. Do you guys fly with "turbulence affects aircraft" inside of fsx to get the turbulence effects? I use fsrealwx lite, but leave this setting off so I don't get s-turns, which makes flying rather dull as it is always calm.

At my FSX turbulence is enabled, and I do not experience any difficulties with ASN (I reduced ASN turbulence a little bit)

Alright cool.

I had turbulence at 100% today, doing an approach into kpbi, and the airplane was going crazy. I don't mean strong turbulence crazy, I mean airplane breaking up crazy. So 100% seems way too much.

Bought it today. It's so good.

Yes, this is needed for the wx radar and stuff in SP1.

What do you mean by "and stuff"?

I think he's referring to the weather import functions, but a lot more of the weather add-on developers are starting to incorporate that kind of feature (PFPX can do it as well, even though it's not specifically a weather add-on).

I agree. 100% seems way too much, especially combined with the way turbulence is done in FSX. I tried disabling turbulence in FSX but the problems remain. Maybe the idea is that 100% in a thunderstorm is meant to be so daunting that you will not want to fly through. But turbulence overall seems excessive. I have the same issue with non PMDG addons too.

The other problem I have is that there are always thunder and lightning effects if only in the distance. Even where I know there are none, ie at my local airport.

All said and done.. Never, EVER complain about the bachelor party, because.. Well.. PAAAAARTAYYYY.
