May 22, 201412 yr I don't think that it is capturing P3Dv2 as such but it is capturing the desktop as a result of enabling "Allow Desktop Capture" which at least on my machine was disabled by default. Ah ha ... a clue, I will have to try this again. Cheers, Rob. UPDATE: checking "Allow Desktop Capture" was the magic setting, got it working but sadly it will not record above 1080p even when Quality is set to Custom "Same as resolution".
May 22, 201412 yr confirmed.. it doesn't go above 1080p. Maybe that's a beta limitation. Still it does a great job of recording with minimum fps loss.
May 22, 201412 yr Yup, works for me too. Nice find, Bill. I guess every now and then a blind squirrel does find a nut. ;b Regards, Todd Harrell Computer: i7 3770k @ 4.6 GHz, 16 GB DDR3 RAM, GTX 1070 GPU, 750W PSU, 250 GB SSD (Win 7), 500 GB SSD (P3D), 2 x 1TB HDD, 28-inch Viewsonic 1080p monitor Sim: P3Dv3

June 2, 201412 yr confirmed.. it doesn't go above 1080p. Maybe that's a beta limitation. Still it does a great job of recording with minimum fps loss. Geforce experience 2.1 released today. Now supports up to 2500x1600 resolution B)
June 2, 201412 yr I'll give it a test tonight ... hopefully compression options are better, I found the 1080p output to be highly compressed (ok for day time but dawn/dusk flights and you see lots of low quality gradients). FYI, the output is H.264 compression ... even at max Bit rate of 50 it's not great ... it's certainly NOT 50 Mbps (as advertised) ... when I output at 8-16Mbps (lower bit rate) for use on YouTube the image quality is considerably better IMHO. WARNING: if you have multi-monitor desktop with desktop shortcuts nicely organized across several monitors they will get scrambled when you activate ShadowPlay (grrrrr). It's a good option considering it's free (well, comes with video card drivers) ... but my hunch is that it's more fps friendly because of the lower quality compressed output. Cheers, Rob.
June 2, 201412 yr Commercial Member Rob, dunno why it scrambled your shortcuts, but it didn't touch mine. However, I've had them mangled by updating my drivers... many times. As for performance... the encoder doing the recording is a hardware encoder... that's why it's so FPS friendly. Not simply because of compression. Compressing on the fly takes processing too... so it should actually impact FPS, not make them better. Just a thought. Ed Wilson Mindstar AviationMy Playland - I69
June 3, 201412 yr As for performance... the encoder doing the recording is a hardware encoder... that's why it's so FPS friendly Did a little testing last night and it does appear they have fixed the 2560 x 1600 output and compression quality is much better than before ... and it is fps friendly. Still testing with it, but so far the ShadowPlay update does seem to have improved recording. Cheers, Rob.
June 4, 201412 yr i keep getting a dwm.exe failure when enabling the shadowplay and then nothing happens with the shortcut keys. The desktop allow is also greytone down Michael Michael Moe
June 4, 201412 yr FYI for any developers using VS 2012 ... ShadowPlay appears to has some interesting behavior in VS design mode if you have fps counter On (you'll see it appear in your designer). Rob.
February 3, 201511 yr I am really crestfallen by the crappy recording this morning....any ideas? November 28, 201510 yr Shadowplay does not seem to be working for me in P3D v3... I have it working when recording other games, but not P3D... When I hit the keyboard shortcut to record, it does nothing. I am using the latest NVIDIA drivers too, does anyone know what could be wrong?
