Thanks for the alternate link! Now I've got it downloaded and can install/configure it in a bit when I have some additional time. :Praying:

All these apps are based on the same code written by the video card guru, Unwinder. Actually, MSI Afterburner is a bit better than EVGA precision, since the former is updated more frequently. get it here:

And the frame rate lock in MSI Afterburner would be located where?????

Thank you very much for this advice. I can't wait to try it tonight. Is setting the FPS to 30 in the EVGA Limiter the only thing to manually set in that program? (Leave everything else alone?) Also, could you PLEASE post pictures of your settings screens in P3D? I saw your .cfg file, but it is difficult to match the lines with the screen options.

Thank you again,

Howard

Hi Howard,

I'm not at home right now, but here is a suggestion...open up your own cfg file

alongside mine posted here. Go down line by line and swap in my settings right to the bottom. Save the file and then fire up P3D. All your masks will be exactly my settings, verbatim. If you like the view and performance, do nothing more...and enjoy this fabulous flight simulator...with your hair on fire!

They all run the Riva Tuner Statistics Server and that's where the limiter is located, just below the "Custom 3D setting".

I tried for almost an hour and never could get the darn program. Even though I've been subscribed for quite awhile, for some reason when trying to access the download page, it wouldn't allow me to "login"...

Do you have your card serial number and place of purchase noted in your EVGA account? It should the allow you to access the PX download page/link

I found it.  Not as obvious as precisionX to get to.  Did not find it on the graphical interface.

I've been using the EVGA Precision X software with Prepar3D for about a week now and it does definitely improve the consistency of my FPS. I wanted to test it out a bit more before suggesting it to others, to make sure that this wasn't causing my GTX 780 to overheat. After doing some lengthy flights in Orbx PNW scenery and around Boston today (both had cloudy skies), there doesn't seem to to be any overheating issues at all. But I would still suggest monitoring your GPU's temperature and reducing your P3D settings, or setting the FPS Limiter to a smaller value whenever graphic demands get high, and your system is struggling to maintain your targeted FPS and/or your temps are running a bit high.

I'm using ASN with Orbx FTX + FS 2010 mesh + Orbx Vector. I have the limiter set to 30 FPS, with my target FPS to Unlimited in the P3D Settings. My only Prepar3D.cfg addition is AffinityMask=254. Most of my P3D graphic settings are pretty high (with scenery sliders to far right) and seem to work well most of the time, but I do have to back some off when I'm flying near larger cities and under stormy weather conditions.

This does not work on my system. Precision locked at 30 and applied. Unlimited in P3D. Frame rates vary between 60-70 with no visible limit even close to 30. 337.50 driver w/Titan Black.

Thanks Mitch.  I will give it a try.

I don't know what you are doing wrong, as this has always worked perfectly for me:

I must say it works great. Alls I did was install it, no config tweaks, no blurries, no stutters. There is one question how hot is too hot for the GPU, mines running at 77C.

Does Precision need to be open and minimized for tis to work?

Yes, it needs to be running to work.  Plus it is a good idea to ALT-TAB it active, to keep tabs on your GPU's heat, at least at first (just to be safe).

Good morning, or I guess good evening, depending, huh? :)

To anybody that is now using the EVGA Precision X FPS Target Mode....make sure upon firing up the system, that the mode is in fact active.  If you don't press APPLY, it might not have taken as permanent, and also, make sure that Precision X software is also configured to load with Windows.  Just check the software as the first thing you do from the desktop, to see if the FPS Target Mode is active. Then fly away, on any platform, because it will be active for all...

Happy Flying....right now in XPX.30b3...but soon to land and take off in P3D!   Honestly, If some one would label me an enthusiast ...it would have to be with a reference to P3D, XPX,FSX, and still of course FS9.9    Yes...I would say that I am an enthusiast of 'em all!

I also suggest that you do not use Vsync at all, in P3D. I truly think that with Target Mode in play, and outboard of P3D, you will not have screen tearing, and get smooth animation, all the same. Just a suggestion.  I don't run with Vsync of any mode on...and it is FORCED OFF in N.I.  I have beautiful performance in P3D without its influence.
