best SoCal scenery?

Featured Replies

I do a lot of flying around KSMO, KLGB, etc and I'm looking to enhance my experience. What are some of the best sceneries and airports addons for this area?

As a sidenote does anyone have any REX texture recommendations to get that beautiful California sky? article-1175690-04C53A24000005DC-265_634

Are you looking for payware scenery or free?  Freeware, I would recommend BlueSky scenery.

There are some freeware airports that you really should try out.  Megascenery X Socal is nice and covers the area from San Diego up through LA.  Also Aerosoft Los Angeles adds some nice areas around the area.

Payware is fine with me, I fly low mostly so I'd rather have something with 3D objects. I've been looking at Aerosoft LA thinking of getting it, unfortunately it doesn't have night textures but they do offer a separate addon for night environment. Would ftx Global/Vectory or GEX help any? Or are there any other FSX scenery addons like this? Because I've heard bad things about Aerosoft scenery and frame rates. Also I can't say I'm a fan of BlueSky judging from those screen shots on their website. Also any airport recommendations?

How can I find ShezA's stuff? I clicked the link in your post and he has nothing under files. Also any opinions on FTX Global or GEX or UTX or anything else like that?

..and he will also be delivering an update to his Palm Springs sometime in the future.

Get his update to the MK Studios KSNA scenery by writing to him.

And if you get Aerosoft LA you won't need KSNA, it's in the package.

Dirk.

I have the old Megascenery SoCal and love it. Unfortunately once you're a customer the company spams you with email and there is no way to get off the list so you have to be ok with that if you're getting a megascenery product. I also have the LatinVFR San Diego and it is awesome. Maybe outside your area but worth a look for sure. Let us know what you do and how you like it!

In terms of sky texture...a far more interesting topic if you ask me.  If you use ENB (and even if you don't), see this thread...

Blue Sky Scenery and Orbx North American freeware airports:

And PilotEdge.

The Orbx airports are awesome except I just loaded KSMO...

I have all my scenery mesh and textures at max. At first I thought it was USCities LA that was conflicting but I turned it off and it didn't work. The only other scenery I have is Orbx so it should be compatible. I even turned everything off besides the airport and it still does that. Does anyone see a problem:

I've tried changing the orders and disabling/enabling things but I haven't been able to get rid of it.
