FSX Fiber Accelerator?

Featured Replies

@

Start 1. Sim first then FA.

Closing  Sim first then FA last.

Your Closing is incorrect.

You should close Fiber first, then close FSX.

Otherwise, some settings in fsx.cfg will possibly be left changed from Fiber.

Either way, one should backup their fsx.cfg so can revert back as needed.

@soundrats - Thanks for that info, unfortunately I have reinstalled. I think for me the software would be a waste of money. I use to have FSX with REX textures, Orbx Vector and Global, with that I would get about 20FPS  down to 17FPS at UK2000 EGLL with the PMDG 777, even with REX on the lowest settings. I recently re-installed my system with my older software, GEX, UTX and FEX. In my opinion the ground looks just as good, the clouds look better even at lower texture settings. The lights at night look more realistic with a better haze look and at EGLL now with the PMDG 777 with a higher LOD, I get 26FPS sat at the gate and about 0.8Gb lower on my VAS. No need for this program just good old fashion tweaking at testing. With my £30 I saved, I can put that towards the Majestic Q400.

I think the software is like the rest of FSX, there is no 'one fix for all'. This is why people are having different responses, exactly the same as tweaking. It all depends on the system, the add-ons, the settings and peoples preference. I would rather not pay for scenery, then lose that scenery to use this add-on. I would rather just turn down the settings a bit myself and save the money.

Now if somebody could just invent a way that I could run all my FSX add-ons in X-Plane 10 64bit, I would be happy.

Otherwise, some settings in fsx.cfg will possibly be left changed from Fiber

According to to the dev, I could be wrong  it doesn't alter or  change anything in your fsx.cfg, refer post 7

I have tried that in the past but it did impact performance at dense airports like EGLL quite severely. It seems to have an impact even when there's no water in sight, which is weird.

Pete - over the years of FSX tweaking, I've often heard the so-called "water" sliders affect far more than just the water - though I can't think where I've heard this. Google, I suppose. Like you, I've observed other things changing when those sliders were moved. I found a sweet spot a while back and leave it there.

I gave it a second try and installed FA again. EDDS rw 07 without FA in real opus weather rain 30fps limited in FSX I got 30fps. Opening FA with the lower limit of 22fps and the 30fps limiter of FSX the frames went down to 22 my lower target. I closed FA frames went up to 27 but not back to 30fps. Please developper tell me what is going on. It should deliver the 30frames if my setup allows this and only start to interfere if I go down to the lower level...??? Whats wrong?

I am just waiting that expert give me an answer before I am going to reinstall it as I did before.

Kind Regards Tom

Maybe the developers can tell us a bit more - cause I want to use what I bought for the ral heavy airports but not if it slow down FSX overall.

Maybe the transition from the demo to the updated app caused a problem (even I deinstalled the demo before installing the updated app)

I second that. Could the developers *please* respond to this - and tell us (reassure us) that our meticulously tweaked FSX installs are back to EXACTLY where we had them before installing FA?

The odd fsx.cfg value being overwritten is no big deal (if you're prudent and make a backup before running FA) - but I'm really keen to know if some other "behind the scenes magic" leaves traces, as my demo period has timed out and I'll be removing FA shortly.

??? I myelf do not find any...

I just want like to hear what the developpers thinking about this behaviour I described above and how to deinstall it with no leftovers anywhere.

Certainly not #2 ... but #7 says:

"a) First we don't play with your settings. We directly communicate with FSX with a new method."

But that still doesn't really answer my question. There may be other parts of the "injection" process that may be being left behind after uninstall - either in FSX (in some way) or in the registry. It could have changed basic video registry settings/settings (the same way NVI operates). If it's anything NVI related, then that's OK as well, as I have my FSX/NVI profile saved and can simply reapply it. If that step *is* necessary, then the developers should tell us. It's no big deal - we just need to know.

For MULTIPLE time in this thread (no offence, I understand it is hard to read a 19 page thread)

Fiber Accelerator DOES NOT MAKE ANY CHANGE TO YOUR FSX SETTINGS OR FSX CFG.

The only way a change IS INDEED made is (and it will be maybe the 5th time I write this)

- Been at a "hard" situation while FIBER is forcing at that point FSX to change "Unlimited" fps. (You can see that either with shift+z or on the bottom bar on FIBER)

If you CLOSE FSX at that point, FSX (not Fiber) will save as it is supposed to do the current settings into fsx.cfg . So on your next startup you will see your fsx.cfg , thus in the FSX settings, the Target Frame be at unlimited.

Written in the manual, RTFM as we say..., you will see it is clearly stated to just CLOSE FIBER BEFORE FSX to avoid this.

There is an answer to another customer who may be in good use:

Fiber Accelerator is not only a "give you frames" application. Its job is to :

1) "Trying to give you the target frame rate when you are on a difficult situation"

2) "If you are on an easy situation tries to gives you the best possible graphics at max distance, keeping the frame rate" and

3) "If it can keep the target frame rate AND the best possible graphics THEN give further frames".

And to further clear the answer

When you close Fiber, FSX will not return to the previous point immediately. Will BEHAVE as it should be at that exact point.(i.e. 1-2 AI aircraft may load in the meantime Fiber was on and will drop you frames compared to before). In complex sceneries there may be a 2 minutes time until FSX is settled. It is well documented over the years , "when we do a change in FSX settings menu we have to wait a bit to see the results".

It is not like rebooting FSX after a change in fsx.cfg where we are supposed to see the difference immediately.

Correct. Only thing I've seen Fiber change in my fsx.cfg is the target frame rate. And that was because I shut down FSX before Fiber. No biggie.

Thanks for your patience BD!

I understand all of the above (which I admit you have posted numerous times).

I'm OK on the fsx,cfg part ... but ... just be *perfectly clear*:

1) No registry changes (NVI related)
2) No other "left over" DLLs (or suchlike) that could in any way impact FSX?

In all fairness, I think your wording in your advertising may be disturbing people "By – in other words – rewritting the FSX graphics engine" [note your typo!]. That's the thing that's scaring people! It implies physical re-writing, where it should really imply that it's manipulating the way the FSX graphics engine works (in memory) ... or something similar/shorter (!).

Sorry but this does not tell me why frames are decreasing after launching FA and in the same time it blurries the scenery which is not the case without FA. I guess my described situation is an easy one - I have no idea why it is dropping the frames just to the lower target - altthough it is absolutely not necessary?

If i was a Dev trying to communicate with people on here I would be feeling quite disapointed/frustrated. Those who don't do their research, don't read the manual or earlier posts on a topic then jump to wrong conclusions. All the work that goes into creating software for an aging FSX that is poorly written anyway. I think we should be appreciative that programs are still made for it and stop behaving like spoilt brats as some do on here with their demands (refering to the first several pages of topic). Happens everytime somethings released.  Try the generous demo if it works great & have fun if not move on.

Kind Regards

Simon.

Sorry but there are others who have problems and those bought it as well. Sadly your answer is not very helpfull at this moment. And believe me I read the threats and I was it who startet the first threat about FA which is meanwhile moved to this threat I think. It would be nice if you try to help instead of putting your fingers in a wound. I would not post if I had no problems.

There ate still question like the VERTICAL SYNC in NVI or directly in FSX. Lots of simmers are following Pmdg Ryans NVI settings and Kostas settings - The FA developper says it is compatible to any other FSX application cause it "speaks" directly to FSX. But a lot of posts are dealing with this question and I did not find any word of the developper concerning the VERTICAL SYNC via NVI and or directly through FSX.

People like me are just asking for help if it does not work out with the info I have or I can find.

Kind Regards Tom
