FSX Fiber Accelerator?

Featured Replies

I tried the demo with my custom cfg but didn't see much difference. According to vr-pilot I should see lots of difference. Also when I change frame limit it always sets back to unlimited. Maybe I should try with clean bojote config?

One thing I think is true is that those of you with very high end systems may not benefit from this program much.  You can run FSX at will. No "throttling" required.

My guess is that it will do much less for you than for someone with lots of buildings/trees/autogen. That has been my experience. It is fabulous with city scenery and over Orbx areas with lots of trees and buildings. If it has to cut down the ground textures in areas like that you don't even notice it. Over photoscenery all it will have to work with is the ground texture.

Thank you. Like you, my understanding is that this tool is not suited for photoscenery.

I knew that folks would tell me" hey dude, try the demo" but I was hoping for a more  technical reply such as yours.

 Well, I would hardly call any post by me "technical".   :P  That is just my observation.

I love the program and use it when I want to fly over Orbx scenery, or around (and through) my Aerosoft Manhattan scenery.

Thanks Tom, but as I said in my post, the problem is not with my config.

@vodoo

Yes it must be sone kind of injection, I guess, only guess it has spmething to do with the graphic driver. After you deinstalled FA did you clean the registry? After deinstalling the geforce driver did you wipe out all nvidia entries with DDU Didplay Driver Uninstall? I did this and used the geforce 332.21 which see s to be very good for FSX. With the latest geforce driver I have CTD. So as I had the similar problem like you I got my frames back like this and I made a complete new cfg only with kostas tweaks, only that I do not use the 1/2 refresh rate - but maybe it is possible to use it, here I still wait for an answer of the devs.

I do not know which system you are running win7 64? I guess you have Net Framework 4.5.1. installed. Here on my machine was Net Framework 3.5.1. not completely enabled. As in psts above described NF 3.5.1. is part of NF 4.5.1. but it must be fully enabled. Check it out.

Cheers Tom

So my previous post still stands.

I'm still waiting for a response to similar posts of mine. I'm deafened by the silence - which makes me wonder whether they have something to hide.

My time limit ran out, so I de-installed FA and checked my fsx.cfg (all was as it was, pre-FA) - but my FSX has lost around 5% in frames and feels nowhere near as smooth as it was prior to installing FA. I checked my NVI profile - all is back to pre-FA settings. I'll try rebuilding my scenery and shaders cache to see if that helps.

Seems  the issues is  when you uninstall the program so it probably  best just leave it  installed since its not doing  much unless you run it  just a thought

Adam, there is nothing left after uninstall...

Checked it myself with my regcleaning tool.

If you feel better rebuilt the fsx.cfg file.

No. Those of us with high end systems have high end systems precisely so they can be loaded up -- with complex sceneries, aircraft, weather and traffic. My high end system (4770K overclocked to 4.4 GHz with a GTX 3Gb 780 video card) struggles with several scenarios, in particular UK2000's Heathrow Extreme version 3 with heavy weather and realistic traffic levels. As I am basing my flying in the UK this is obviously an important hub and has become the basis of all my benchmarks in testing such add-ons as FA. And for me, whilst certainly not boosting frame rates (it reduces them somewhat), it certainly provides smoothness which was previously lacking.

If folks measured results by smoothness rather than by frame rate I'm sure many would come to different conclusions than several posted here. And you shouldn't get any "blurries" resulting if the instructions are followed and the lower frame rate not set ambitiously high.

Absolutely. It's the same as with P3D v2. Judge it without looking at the frame rate counter, because what the frame rate means is now changed by a compensating smoothness factor.

 - Bill Magann

yep that was the question I asked initially. For example, I can run stuff on x plane 10 that pushes the fps down to around 20-24 but it's still very smooth. Normally in FSX the same sort of frame rate appears to be quite jerky - if this tool can get to the point where it can maintain consistent frame rates, even if they are lower, then I think it's a good piece of software

Thanks Tom, but as I said in my post, the problem is not with my config. I have used various settings over the years, changing them as new idea's come up, removing ones that do not work. I do not look at a one list and put them all in, hoping for the best. I try them at a time whilst benchmarking the results. This has worked in the past and I have had good results.

I pray to God that you are wrong. For that I always I have a copy of my complete backup configuration files FSX.

What you say is very serious, if this is happening is the worst that can happen to us. We spent great hours of time optimizing our FSX to waste time now.

I'm not experiencing what voodoo is saying. I have FA installed but not using it at the moment, and everything is back to "normal". I do remember killing the FA program mid flight and experiencing an abnormal drop in frames, but after FSX restart, all was normal.

What is the point of getting smoothness and making the sim look worse. I paid a fortune to get an i5 processor, good graphics card, good memory and a motherboard for it to sit on. I then got a quality power supply and over clocked my pc to 4.3Ghz. I then paid for software to make FSX look nice. It runs fairly smooth as it is with reasonable frame rates.

Now the idea is to have a program that lowers the frame rates, makes it smoother and reduces my textures to mush. If I wanted it smoother with textures looking like mush, I could slide my sliders to the left. This would gain me three things over FA;

1. Better frames rates, unlike FA.

2. Save me money, unlike FA.

3. The ability to restore my FSX config back to a decent looking sim, unlike FA.

@soundrats - Thank you Tom for your idea's. I did try a clean install of my driver, including wiping the old driver and all setting, unfortunately to no avail. I checked all my settings but could not locate what had been changed. The only option I had was to re-install, this is not to say that everybody will have the same problem. Still got my airports to add. Luckily I had all the changes I had made to my config and NVidia inspector backed up on a separate hard drive, the problem is keep activating things.

@Pete_auau - I wish it had been that simple. Even with it installed but not running I had no ground textures.

Like I said, this is on my system and my experience. I am not saying that it will not help some system, or that it will kill everybody's system. Just think carefully before you risk your FSX install to software that people have had problems with. I wish I listened to my heart when I heard about their previous software, unfortunately my head wanted more frames, a smoother ride and still have a reasonable view out the window. This is a long way off what I got.

Sorry, this is not true. If you are searching the registry you will find entries for FA. This is the easy part. Question is which else entries will be changed without the user is aware of. I am not sure if the devs will tell us.

Cheers Tom (sorry for m english)
