FSX Fiber Accelerator?

Recommended Posts

Flew out of Pudong yesterday in the PMDG 777 with low ceilings and embedded thunderstorms everywhere...didn't break out until around 20000 feet. I was surprised to see the frame rates were good at 15-20 fps.  When I cleared the tops I was at 700000 free VAS. Flew all the way to Memphis and LANDED w/o having to restart to free up VAS.  This was new for me. Wow. Nice work guys.  I like!

You need to watch the Froogle review until near the end. He is very blah, but then he does something interesting: He closes down the app and discovers that it was providing him with about a 25% to 33% boost in FPS! Then he is impressed!

What if you have FIBER_FRAME_TIME_FRACTION=0.15 set in your fsx.cfg, does it have to be removed ?

No fiber here its the gui - its not showing the fps numbers and other than that did nothing in P3D - just thought I would try thinking they might have to use a newer microsoft.net version to create one - not sure

Be a great tool for P3D for users with non high end rigs.

Well, either I'm not doing something right, or it just doesn't help anything on my system. The description in the manual makes it sound like you can tweak the low frame based on the graphic bars, but they don't seem to vary much regardless of what I set it to.

Used it at FSDT JFK in a storm and was getting 7 fps at the gate in the NGX (which is why I never fly there) with it on or off. No change whatsoever.

It went up by 5 fps but if you listen to him he noticed texture issues.  I would suggest that anyone who wants it just download the demo and try it out for themselves, your mileage may vary.  That is a much better real world test than watching a video especially when your system is completely different :)

I downloaded and installed the .net 3.5.1 and Tried this software...but I exited and restarted 3 times since I did not see any difference.. Then I noticed that I do not see the .net 3.5.1 in my installed software in control panel.

BTW.. in the beginning, it just removed my 31FPS to unlimiited...but that doesn't mean much.. since making the FPS limit to unlimited always gives me more FPS...but blurry problems would appear so I have always limited it to 30FPS... But then later on, I saw it put back the 31FPS as max.

Hmm... so  I have just two more tries? After that what happens?

Could I uninstall and reinstall the software?  or am I done? blew it?

As is, I can't tell anything about what this does...or if it even helps.

It is in "Turn windows features on & Off". That is where I found it in my set up.

I told I will be back for something special, and this is something special. All these years Pete we wanted to thank you for what YOU had done to our hobby.

Getting as feedback words like these, by one of legends of FS industry, gives us a little dizzy feeling.

So thank you, not only for the kind words, but publicly a big THANK YOU and RESPECT for your own efforts making FS what it is now !

I knew that the marked improvement in FSX while using FA wasn't my imagination.  If Pete Dawson sees it also, then there is no doubt.

Last night I flew over Drzewiecki's New York City in Milvez's 732 and my FPS stayed around 16fps, with no OOM problem.

I know that no one software will perform miracles in FSX, but I see a consistent improvement with FA that I like.

I also congratulate and thank FSPS for this great software that will be a big help for so many simmers, including myself.

Second "wow" event.  Was getting ready to take off from DD KEWR in the iFly 737-800.  Watched the free VAS going away.  Started FA an it increased to 328000.  I really think I'm going to like this program.  One thing I did notice is that, at least in the NYC area, you don't get the big boost in FPS you do elsewhere.  Think it's all the urban area.

Bob,

Have you abandoned the changes that TABS made to your system?

Got demo. Ran only 2 sessions to test and see what it's all about.

Went to PCAviator and purchased. This program works well.

It isn't perfect though. If you are not wise with your max and desired frame rate settings, you will get blurries.

Pro's definitely out weight the cons, however.

In heavy areas of 11-15fps, I would get an increase of about 3-4fps. When frame rate is that low, a 4fps gain is a large improvement.

Makes a big difference in approaches with those extra 3-4 fps more. $32 is a cheap upgrade for the low end frame rate gained.

Well done FSPS, you should have well deserved $$$$ rolling in as word continues to spread.

Had a test of this and I didn't really notice any difference. The main thing though is that I run at 60FPS with FPS being locked externally. Is it worth buying this for my case? I only see smoothness problems when I drop below 35-40FPS which can happen with the T7 etc. The program didn't see to have any effect at reducing that but maybe that is because of the way I run FSX?
