FSX Fiber Accelerator?

(DON'T FORCE YOUR SCREEN TO AN UNSUPPORTED REFRESH RATE!!! YOU MIGHT BRAKE IT!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED).

You can't break your display by sending it different refresh rates (above or below the display's rate).  If you're sending it 100fps from the GPU, and your display is 60Hz, it will take 60 frames out of the 100 every second and ignore 40 frames.

No he's not talking about allowing more frames, then your refresh rate ie: VSYNC off. He's talking about setting your display/monitor to be at a higher refresh frequency then it can handle, and he's right, that can cause damage.

Thanks

Hi All,

Well I bought this and have given it a fair go all of yesterday, have to say for me, it is a case of very slight difference. Yes it does change the frames but it does not get rid of stuttering when taxing around a big airport like uk2000 EGKK in the Airbus with AI traffic, this is an issue that is linked to the dreaded V Synch.

Until we can all run at 60 all the time this stuttering will never cease! I have to say that the manual ..well I cannot see it, does not say anything about using a vanilla fsx cfg and mine has tweak's attached including FFTF and HighMem...maybe this does not help.

So product would appear to help, but as for butter smooth....YMMV not what I was hoping to see..however that just maybe down to my system. A step in the right direction is how I would sum this up......no harm in giving it a go!

Cheers

Add this to the programs section of the fsuipc4.ini (create if not there) , as Ray just said, here is how it would look.

[Programs]
RunIf1=Ready,Close,C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe

Hi Andi, how are you? I tried the autoload FA via FSUIPC - but with this line:

[Programs]

RunIf1=Ready,Close,C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe

FA does not start in my case.

cheers Tom

Hi Tom, I'm not bad, thanks for asking, I hope you are well too.

Check the path to your Fiber install, perhaps you didn't install Fiber to the default location, if not then you will need to edit the above to suit.

Cheers, Andy.

Andi,

this is the exact location where the FSPS FA App is located:

C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX FiberAccelerator.exe

Anyway like this it does not start.

Cheers Tom

You will need to contact Pete at FSUIPC support forum then Tom, I'm not sure what the issue is.

Cheers, Andy.

C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX FiberAccelerator.exe

Does it just need quotation marks at beginning and end as there are spaces in the path?

Just like to thanks FSPS for participating in our great hobby, we need all the help we can to make this antiquated work of art perform better and better. There is not an awfull lot of options out there for us to choose from and we all need to work it out together. This may not work for you, though it may work for others. Try your trial version and make your decision, just like any another fsx tweek. If we support our dev's I am sure they will support us (visa versa). Let's face it, the almighty L/M, with all it's financial backing, hasn't exactly performed any miracles as yet. I havn't tried this piece of software as yet, but looking forward to giving it a go. Tried Booster 2013, not for me I'm afraid, but I'm sure many found it usefull. Thanks for giving us another Option FSPS.

Mac, why did you buy it without trying it, when the demo is free?

I seen a substantial improvement in FPS when using the demo, otherwise I wouldn't have purchased it.

Hi. I did try the demo as i posted and also said i thought that i thought that the demo was too short, however i decided to give it a serious go which is why i bought it, and posted the results here.

 I am still trying to get any significant results but as yet to no avail.

Does it just need quotation marks at beginning and end as there are spaces in the path?

It doesn't have them in my ini Ray, I copied and pasted directly from my ini file as shown above.

Cheers, Andy.

Tried it - liked it - bought it.

Works for me. It isn't a huge improvement, but it is an improvment. True, one sacrifices terrain visuals for flyability, but thats fine when flying tubeliners. I didn't expect the magic bullet anyway, as ultimately still the hardware is the limit. Everything in life comes at a price ;o)

But FSPS FA does what is advertised. Furthermore it IMO has potential to improve still further (doing the same to clouds comes to (my) mind).

What I like the most is that it has absolutely zero impact on files in my FSX installation. So I can use it whenever I feel like it, and just leave it be with no ill effects to my FSX when I don't. I use multiple tweaked CFGs and XMLs with Simstarter, so FA being entirely optional for me is the key feature of them all. I can still start up as I used to, take off from my favourite airport, and when I notice them FPS dropping on approach to EHAM I just fire up FA, so I can complete my flight without cramps in my neck from the jerking ;o)

Assuming the path does definitely lead to where the program was installed, try enclosing the full path in quotes, thus:

RunIf1=Ready,Close,"C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe"

You need the quotes because of the spaces -- the data is fed to Windows and the first space it encounters ends the path name and the rest it taken as paramweters for the program.

That's odd Andy because it's a rule in Windows that requires quotes if a path contains a space. Pete confirms that in a later message.

My PC is tweaked with Nick Needhams recommendations and I remember there was some change made to the way file I/O were dealt with, some legacy code I think that was quicker and more efficient than the way Windows7 normally handles it, I suspect that may be related.

Cheers, Andy.
