FSX Fiber Accelerator?

Featured Replies

Certainly interesting.  BD-FSPS, can you confirm this?

Hi

This is turning into an interesting piece of software. I haven't purchased it yet but I am curious as to what effect it may have on other addons such FTX Global, Aerosoft Night Environment sceneries. If Fiber Accelerator avoids drawing certain roads or autogen, especially at night, would this have any unwanted effect on night lighted roads with vector lights ?

Secondly, how does this software behave when you have your AI set to: 10%, or 50%, including ground vehicle AI.

PA works fine with France VFR 3DA sceneries.

Windows 11 | i7-14700KF | DDR5-64Go | RTX-4070 Super | 1440p 32" curved screen | G903

I purchased it not seeing massive results still stutters what ever setting on turning in any large airport with it set to 30 fps using airbus will keep fiddling but does not effect anything so no harm done.

Cheers

No, he didn't.  He just said that no changes to FSX.cfg are made.  I'd like to know more about uninstalling, and what changes actually *do* get made to the simulator.

Uninstalling is simple , you can uninstall either by the start menu, or via the installation's folder "uninstall.exe" or via control panel add/remove programs.

What we are doing is explained briefly in the product description .

More details will require you give us for free your own projects code and some of your future projects too, and.. pay us something :) No offence heh...

So, can you set 30fps both in sim and in the fiber program?

Any reason why this would be a no go?

I wouldn't do that. (Each PC is different , there is no magic behind a 30-30 setting)

Choose a big upper limit in FSX. You may get it if you easily get the lower setting.

Choose something that is near your limits as a lower limit.

If for example in my worst scenery I get 15 frames without fiber, but in the majority of other sceneries 25, and when above default terrain 50 (it can happen)...

I would put personally something near 20 in fiber - 40 in FSX...

Someone else while flying over one of the "majority" would alt+tab to Fiber and on the fly set 30 there... etc etc ,

In FSX FA you set the lowest framerate for your system ( see the manuel ).

Shortly said : go to your heaviest airport with AI aircraft and set a thunderstorm with rain. Note the framerate.

That is the lowest framerate you will have with you pc. Add 3-5 fps to that value and there you have the lowest framerate for FSX FA.

In FSX you set your desired highest framerate.

When the framerate starts to drop in heavy detailed scenery and approaches the lowest framerate setting FSX FA will adjust values in FSX to crank up the framerate.

More advanced people can set the lowest framerate by looking at the performance bars in FSX FA.

But does uninstalling leave any other changes to the simulator once the software is removed?  Again, I've had terrible experiences with such performance improving software before that I've uninstalled (after determining there were no benefits to my system)...and having basically my installation of FSX rendered useless.

And going back to another question I posted earlier...for example, if I set the high limit on 60 FPS, and lower limit on 28.  How does your software prevent stutters by transitioning between the two (if at all)?  I certainly know on my system stutters terrible when hovering around 45 frames, or 75% of my refresh rate, rather than 50% or 100%.  I'd certainly don't want a stutter fest going between eye-candy flying and smooth performance at complex airports as the modes alternate.

I realize I sound like a "difficult customer" to sell to, but I'd much rather be the informed skeptic before using something that works in the background of FSX without me knowing too much what is being accessed/changed.  The product description is high-level, but it just sounds like somehow sliders and graphics settings are being dynamically adjusted?  How is it different than just turning down or up sliders by hand (but just automated); or are there other things going on here?

Thanks.

No issues with uninstalling.

I did it several times and it removes everything.

One big difference by using FSX FA and changing the sliders in FSX to get a better framerate is that with FSX FA you can keep on flying without pausing the sim, changing sliders and then reload the sim...

Also FSX FA controls the sim beyond the sliders...

Hi, is there a way to autolaunch the software (thru FSUIPC for example ?). Etienne

Yes. You'll need to place an entry in FSUIPC.INI in the [Run] section from memory. The user manual will give details.

I think the problem people are having is that the program seems too good to be true. We have all been burned before by some add-on or other, and this just seems too simple to be as effective as claimed.

For me, it has been great. I have no idea how well it will work on other peoples' systems. I have bought things that folks have raved about and not been happy with what I saw, so I understand the fact that not everybody will be as happy as I have been with this product. Results vary. On my system, this just works, and works exactly as advertised.

Add this to the programs section of the fsuipc4.ini (create if not there) , as Ray just said, here is how it would look.

[Programs]
RunIf1=Ready,Close,C:\Program Files (x86)\FSPS\FSX Fiber Accelerator\FSX Fiber Accelerator.exe

Cheers, Andy.
