That is why my current simulator is FS2004. Sure, it has it's limitations, but it was my first sim and
....like women and cars, we never forget our first time.

In my opinion, the relationship between FSX and PCs has always been an odd one. An old game (by today's standards) that needs current technology...like I7 CPUs and so on if you want decent performance. But then again, because is old, it can't take advantage of things like 64 bit and directx 11. I don't know....i'am already confused...LOL

I don't think I could be happier with my setup, and the way FSX runs.  I'm sure that over-tweaking causes so very many problems.  I've done very little, but I've invested in a superb system designed by experts...Jetline Systems.  This is my 2nd system from them, and I'm convinced that they know how to specifically design the right setup for this hobby.  After all, the owner of Jetline is a total FSX enthusiast...as well as a real world pilot.

I couldn't do it better, and I own a company with 6   I.T specialists.   They understand computers, but they really don't know what makes FSX fly smoothly.

As does my FSX... the trap many seem to fall into, is to add all kinds of detailed addons to FSX, to the point of performance going in the tank - and then resorting to tweaking and snake-oil to restore performance.

We have to be honest about FSX:  without these plethora of add-ons, FSX is near useless IMHO.  Ugly, incorrectly terrained, lite weight shallow aircraft.

FSX is really only useful as a platform for add-ons.

"Theres no perfect flight simulation software as of 2014."

If you are wishing for "perfect flight simulation software" I submit that you will never see it in a version you can afford at home.

Time for you to start taking flying lessons!

FSX is hard to beat.

No it's not, I prefer an ASP to beat on FSX with myself.  ;-)

Sure - like a camel is only useful to carry things.. but you have to be sensitive to how much you are loading on..

I bought FSX Deluxe Gold with acceleration in 2008 but never tried to install it until recently.  It couldn't even install on windows 7.  I googled my problem and found a solution but the solution didn't work.  In reading other simmers' frustration with both installing and trying to reinstall I came to the conclusion that I was right in the first place not to install FSX as it is a defective product, especially if it can't install on its own operating system.  I have FS9 installed on w.7 and didn't have any problems.  My decision to stay with FS9 now is even the more solidified in my mind.  I am waiting for this dove company that bought the license from Microsoft to produce, hopefully, a good sim.  For the foreseeable future I am staying with FS9.  If FSX can't take too many addons then what good is it since the addons make FSX more realistic.  Without the addons it is just too gamish and I want more realism, not just more graphics.

Furthermore I also believe that Microsoft gave up on the franchise because they knew they produced a defective product and they knew they wouldn't be able to support it so they got out.  Had they produced a successful sim then they would still be in business today.

Can you Say "DX10"? I know you can.

You should not jump ship until you try this my friend. It was the only thing that kept me in the ring.

Too bad the guy pulled the DX-10 Fixer.  On my brand new installation of FSX, I was going to try DX-10 for the first time, but I'm really not interested in reading a years worth of threads and tricks to do everything manually.

I did not know that. You can still get it done without the fixer. There is a dedicated forum  at avsim. Check it out.

Worth a try Bud!

Try the free version here on Avsim.  Not as complete as the payware version but will give you a good idea of what Dx10 can do.
