July 19, 201411 yr I for one wish people would post more screenshots, not necessarily before-after - just shots of what gets those of you who are excited so excited. Cheers, Sascha Looks like you somehow quoted the wrong person because I never said No repetition of Global land tiles...it looks so darn real....wonderful! Forest land class calls...are awesome! I do agree though it would be great with some more screenshots in different situations but I guess we're able to find that elsewhere like in the Orbx forum or probably even some video clips by now on YouTube. However personally I think I'm pretty convinced already I will give the complete Orbx setup (FTX Global, FTX Vector and FTX openLC Europe) a go keeping my fingers crossed I won't regret my decision.
July 19, 201411 yr I think that we should give the FTX Global series more time to mature. Remember that for Vector they are continually researching better sources (Vector 1.2 will already implement much better data for North America, and more updates have been confirmed), and the openLC 2.0 series will include polygon landclass and POIs for areas that will never receive FTX regions. Plus they're planning an FTX Global Base/Vector/openLC bundle for 2016 when everything will have been released, for a special price. Right now the FTX Global series might be inferior to GEX/UTX (especially Vector), but seeing how commited Orbx are to providing updates, I'm sure that in one year we are going to have a much more mature and refined product. And don't forget the hundreds of freeware airports already released.
July 19, 201411 yr Commercial Member Personally I'm just waiting for OpenLC products for other continents. I already have MegasceneryEarth for the US & FSAltitude for Europe, North Africa and Australia, now I simply need something that would stop textures from being so repetitive in Asia & rest of Africa and Americas.

July 19, 201411 yr Commercial Member How is FSAltitude for Europe? Basically it looks good from 30k feet, however you'll always have circle of landclass based scenery showing below your aircraft and when you descend it might look a bit annoying when you see the border between FSAltitude low res scenery and the normal, landclass based scenery. Personally I simply hate the repetitiveness that can be seen from full cruising altitude with landclass based scenery so in my opinion FSAltitude is definitely worth it.

I'm with you on hating the repetitive land class textures. I hate them too. At what point during climb/descent do you really begin to notice the transition? Back on topic...I did buy OpenLC and I must say, as a pro-photoreal scenery person, I am so far very happy with my purchase even though it is land class based product. The repetitive stuff we are talking about here is really hard to notice. The textures being used in the different regions are a much better match to what you'd see in real life at least as far as the "feel" of what's appropriate for where you are. I've done 3 flights so far with it and am finding myself trying to find darts to throw at it but so far, it is doing what I'd hope it would do. That is fill in the areas where I lack photo real scenery with something much more believable than just FTXG/UTX was doing. The added texture pallette that FTX has to work with from their own Global product has really helped in the implementation of OpenLC. The color variations in textures are much more now than before since they are now able to reference their own custom textures with OpenLC. Something UTX obviously couldn't do. IMO, my 3 flights so far have been as close to a "photoreal feel" as you can get without actually using photoreal. Of course, accuracy is not going to be 100% with a land class based product. But, still. To me, this purchase has been worth it. It is close enough until MSE or myself create photoreal for all of Europe. It has made purchasing Global worth it. Which, up until now, that was more of a regretful purchase. Regards, Kevin LaMal "Facts Don't Care About Your Feelings" - Shapiro2024
July 20, 201411 yr If anyone has a specific area (ICAO or city) they would like to see some pictures, let me know. So far OpenLC seems very impressive ... but only 2 flights down. Cheers, Rob.

No increase here Rob actually getting stutters and some spikes in spot plane view - butter smooth in the US driving me nuts lol Disregard orbx forum post if you see this one first - thanks Rich Sennett
July 20, 201411 yr It is really easy: Option 1: Want to fly only inside an ORBX region (e.g. UK, Scotland, Wales), then select "Europe" in FTX Central and activate. Option 2: Want to fly only outside the ORBX regions using openLC Europe, then select "Global" in FTX Central without ticking the "Hybrid Mode" Option 3: Want to fly from or to an ORBX region (e.g. Frankfurt to London using ORBX UK and openLC EU), then select "Global" in FTX Central and tick "Hybrid Mode" before activating. It's a bit confusing but not really complicated... So what does FTX central actually do? Does it just swap over various sets of autogen definitions? :s Kevin Firth - AMD 9800X3D; Asus Prime X670E; 64Gb Cas30 6000 DDR5; RTX5090; AutoFPS

Hey, Rob, could you show France's countryside? Specially near Le Mans / Angers / Tours etc. It's a region kind of problematic in UTX Europe, I think - the textures are very repetitive there. Also, if you could show the Swiss Alps in a clear day from, say... FL370... that would be awesome. Sorry for asking for so much. Take your time! Thanks and best regards, Gabriel J. T. July 20, 201411 yr No increase here Rob actually getting stutters and some spikes Are you using 1024 textures? Have you deleted shaders? NVidia Texture Quality = Quality (not High Quality)? SimObject Shadows = off (both cast/receive). Building Autogen = Normal, Trees = Very Dense, Scenery Complexity = Very Dense. If you have Orbx Vector 1.15 then use the Configuration tool, under Transportation tab uncheck everything except Highways and Primary Roads. When I run with Cloud Shadows ON, I lock at 20 fps ... when I run with cloud shadows off I lock at 30 fps. I don't need high frame rates, I prefer consistent time between frames (aka frame times). Another strange find that I just assume is specific to my hardware ... I recently upgraded my ASUS motherboard UEFI (aka BIOS) and started running a base clock at 125Mhz but with lower multiplier rendering about 4.4 Ghz (prior to my UEFI update, I was running at base clock of 100Mhz @ with multipliers to get 4.6 to 4.8 Ghz) and my stutter experience was less at 125Mhz base clock ... don't get me wrong, I can still induce stutters just like anyone else can given high enough graphics settings. Anyway food for thought, not sure if it was the base clock change or updating my motherboard UEFI that helped smooth things out. Cheers, Rob.

Great info Buddy - I will check this out - right now I am at 4.2 ghz rebuilt shaders and fresh cfg file with Affinity mask and buffer pools only and it seems better but think you may be on to something with turning down my vector settings - fps locked at 38 seems to be my sweet spot for lesser aircraft - cs777 has to run unlimited - glad to see you back Rob - will report back - 2:30 am yikes ===================================================================== Not recommended to touch base clock on my board here is a video on it and this is my board - just playing with multiplier is best and easier http://www.how2createwealth.com/U-0Z2Money9tsowZ/Gigabyte-Z77X-UP7-Full-Review-UP7.html Rich Sennett
