September 21, 201411 yr Hi, I recently purchased Xplane 10 on Steam and have had some of the best time on any flight simulator thus far. The game runs perfectly, and completely mesmerizes me. However... After about 10 hours of gameplay (on 10.20), I downloaded some simple Lua plugins (Headshake, landing speed, etc), and some aircraft addons (757, and 727). So far, X-plane10 has been 1000x times better than my experience in FSX, and I play it daily. However, now that the 10.30 update has been released, after I start a flight, my Xplane says "Xplane is running out of memory: scenery loading has been disabled", then I click "understood" play for another minute, and it says that "Xplane has completely run out of memory", then it crashes. Thinking something might be missing in the Xplane files, I verified the Game Cache on steam, and it found 127 files that were missing. It then downloaded these files and I thought that the game was fixed, but I was wrong; it still said the same "running out of memory" message. I have completely re-installed the game, including the Europe and North America scenery packs (provided by Xplane), and the game still crashes. I even loaded the default KSEA airport, and that scenery was causing the out of memory message as well! Now many would assume that this problem is caused by a weak computer, but just a day earlier, I was running the game on very high rendering settings, and was getting 45-78 FPS consistently. At the bottom of the rendering page, it said that the total Vram the game was using was around 1.7GB, which would be no issue for my 4GB GPU, and on Task Manager, only 40-50% of my 8GB of RAM are being used... I don't know what "memory" Xplane is running out of. PC Specs: OS: Windows 8.1 64bit CPU: i7 4770k @ 4.2GHz RAM: 8GB @1600MHz GPU: GTX 770 4GB Mobo: MSI G45 HDD: 1TB Seagate SSHD SSD: 120GB Kingston SSD If there is a fix for this problem, please let me know! If there is none, how could I revert back to the "stable" 10.20 version in which I had no issues? Thanks a lot.

September 21, 201411 yr Posting your log file after a crash would probably shed some light on whats causing you issues. It's located in your main XP folder. Joseph Catino

September 22, 201411 yr Commercial Member Hm, strange. The only real problem in your log.txt is the memory error message, the 757 texture loading problems later are probably related to that. Unfortunately your log does not state anything useful before that problem. For a test, please turn down your texture resolution to "high", switch off HDR, set shadows to static and clouds to 10%. September 22, 201411 yr I have had the 64bit version running out of memory once in a while, too. I have 8GB of RAM, and am running the HD version of the scenery. I only get this message when repeatedly loading up scenery, even if in the same spot (as happens during scenery development to check your work). 64bit is definitely no magic sword agains OOM - if you throw enough RAM usage at it, it will go overboard just like 32 bit - even 128bit would still do that, its just the laws of math. If you suspect that you should not be getting this error at all (i.e. plenty of RAM, not using HD scenery...) then your best bet would be to file a bug report. You might not get an immediate answer, but I know the team treats all crash reports with a very high priority, and a fix would come swiftly. The first step to making sure it´s X-Plane would be to remove any add-ons you have, to try and single out the cause. Jan

September 22, 201411 yr Hmm, that's not normal. It runs out of memory before it even starts to load the 757. Since it only loads the demo area this is in fact ridiculous. Could it be that you simply forgot to load the real areas from your downloadable content page on steam? You have multiple rather big downloads to do before you really have the complete X-Plane. ANd monitor the memory consumption of X-Plane when it starts complaining. If I saw correctly you have Windows 8. Then you can see the Memory Consumption in the Task Manager. Karsten Schubert

If I were you I would back up your existing X-Plane folder and re-install a fresh copy in an empty folder from scratch. Check your log file for errors. There should be none. Then backup this log file and test for any OOM errors. If all is ok, copy some of your addon stuff into the new folder and test again. Compare the new log file to the original. Continue doing this in small stages fixing any errors as yo go until you locate your OOM error. Then please report Back with your discoveries. That way, we all can learn. September 26, 201411 yr Commercial Member You have a large number of files which cannot be found - according to the log.txt file. Both scenery and aircraft. There are other errors as well. Too many errors IMHO. A lot of these errors can be ignored, esp. the numerous "Syntax error", "Could not find tile" and "Parse error". These happen very often and are not critical. The aircraft related errors in the end are due to the fact that textures could not be loaded, because of the memory problem... Mario Donick .:. vFlyteAir
September 26, 201411 yr Author Ok, I uninstalled the game and then re-installed it, but the custom aircraft are still in the aircraft folders.. How do I completely uninstall the aircraft, then I will continue from there?

Mariodonick is quite correct in what he says. But when trying to find a fault which is illusive, it helps to start from scratch and add in stuff bit by bit - comparing the log file each time and testing for when the memory leak appears.
