  1. I notice that there is an un-install entry in the Windows registry, so it appears that the days of X-Plane addons not touching the Windows registry are over. This may (or may not) have something to do with it. There is also a lot of stuff which I believe they have done outside of the X-Plane engine - this may well need to be coded differently for different O/S's. Of course this is pure conjecture on my part - what do I know anyway? FWIW, the IXEG 737b also has an uninstall entry - to date, these two are the only such occurrences that I have ever seen.
  2. Really beautiful piece of software craftsmanship. Worth every cent IMHO. Huge fun - especially that active co-pilot doing all the learning-curve work! Please continue creating aircraft for X-Plane.
  3. I refer particularly to: 5 "Plusartickel" published in German in FS Magazin between 2013 and 2015 (X-Plane-Reiseführer!) ; XP10 Travel Guide - 4821 nm across the Sea; Various product reviews in PC Pilot Many posts in different forums (including here at AVSIM) commenting, correcting and presenting a balanced adult view. You have no doubt also produced other stuff which I haven't come across yet. I don't think you need to be shy about starting a regular blog - you write well in both English and German and I am sure you have achieved quite a following - there are so many who write either nonsense, or simply re-hash press releases - IMHO you have always written worthwhile stuff. I repeat... I, for one, would be delighted if you started a regular "big" blog.
  4. Mario, For a long time I have followed your writings, reviews and comments with great respect. I, for one, would love to read a regular blog written by you. If you are worried about coming across as being biased, a simple disclaimer up front is all you need.
  5. I just watched one of the videos - this looks amazing . If they are wondering if they will ever recover their time in sales income, I really hope they make a wonderful profit because sure looks like it will be well worth whatever they ask for it. They can definitely count on me as a customer.
  6. Scroll with mousewheel is best imho. Of the options asked for, click and hold is better than click and drag
  7. Ken On the subject of the X-Plane default C172, see this thread on AVSIM: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/424049-the-c172-probably-the-best-default-prop-in-x-plane-10/ and this one at the "ORG" : http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?showtopic=81200#entry864573
  8. Ken One of the most confusing things for an FSX user to get right in X-Plane is the configuration of the HAT switch on your yoke. Here's a Frooglesim YouTube video to get you started. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYE4QGkW1ZI
  9. Ha, 16 GB ! You ain't seen nuttin' yet... B) On of the first addons you will want to install is an enhanced mesh for USA, Europe, Japan and Oz. It's only 99GB! It's donationware, or freeware of you are a bit financially tight this January :o Once you have seen and used it, you will actually want to donate. Go here: http://www.alpilotx.net/ And that's just the start of the fun....
  10. We X-plane aviators await your questions with bated breath. Always ready to help if we can. One thing first... X-Plane is not FSX. It works differently, looks different and feels different. If you can't seem to get even the simplest things to work, you are in good company - we all battled at the beginning - just persevere and ask.
  11. I'm quite a fan of Mike Ray's books on flying airliners. In his earlier books he has clearly indicated that MSFS is the way to go for airliner simulations and not X-Plane. In his more recent books, however, he hasn't mentioned X-Plane either negatively or positively at all. I hope this upcoming IXEG will change his mind because I would love to use an updated version of his handbooks based on the X-Plane platform. Of course, if IXEG would work together with Mike and release the Aircraft together with a dedicated book written by Mike, that would be absolutely brilliant. There is the usual impatience that is common to flightsim hobbyists when a really promising add-on is soon to be released, but I must admit that while I would love to see an early release, deep down I prefer the IXEG philosophy of getting this done properly the first time. From what I have seen and read, it looks like this will be a superb piece of software engineering.
  12. I bought it and read it cover to cover. Some of the articles from past editions of PC Pilot Magazine have just been reproduced, but there is also quite a bit of new stuff including V10.3 references . It's a useful collation of diverse X-plane stuff aimed at the newbie x-plane user. I am not sure it should have been billed as "The Official Guide" though, since Laminar Research did not produce or author it.
  13. I just came across a new "special" publication from the editors of PC Pilot Magazine called X-Plane 10 - The Official Guide I wouldn't call it "official" since it was not produced by Laminar Research, but otherwise it is quite good and provides many comparisons direct between FSX and X-Plane. It is sufficiently new that it even has X-Plane 10.3 info in it. For anyone thinking of trying out X-Plane as their future flight simulator, this magazine is well worth it's cover price. I have no connection to Key Publishing so I don't really think this post qualifies as belonging in the Announcements and Bargains section. ^_^ It's just a "heads up".
  14. Stanislaw Your patch works fine. The interior hangar lighting and the flood lights mounted above are really brilliant. Since you are in the process of creating a patch, there is a tiny insignificant error in the Log.txt file viz., WARNING: texture Custom Scenery/EETN_Tallinn_XP_high/fac/fence1.png has a size that is not a power of 2; it may not render correctly. WARNING: texture Custom Scenery/EETN_Tallinn_XP_high/fac/fence2.png has a size that is not a power of 2; it may not render correctly. WARNING: texture Custom Scenery/EETN_Tallinn_XP_high/fac/concretefence_wire.png has a size that is not a power of 2; it may not render correctly. Obviously some fence somewhere is not being displayed. This is no doubt easily fixable. All in all, your EETN-Tallinn scenery is really very good indeed and makes a magnificent improvement to the default scenery which really is a bit of a mess.
  15. Sorry, I didn't make this as clear as I should have. Mariodonick is quite correct in what he says. But when trying to find a fault which is illusive, it helps to start from scratch and add in stuff bit by bit - comparing the log file each time and testing for when the memory leak appears.
  16. You have a large number of files which cannot be found - according to the log.txt file. Both scenery and aircraft. There are other errors as well. Too many errors IMHO. If I were you I would back up your existing X-Plane folder and re-install a fresh copy in an empty folder from scratch. Check your log file for errors. There should be none. Then backup this log file and test for any OOM errors. If all is ok, copy some of your addon stuff into the new folder and test again. Compare the new log file to the original. Continue doing this in small stages fixing any errors as yo go until you locate your OOM error. Then please report Back with your discoveries. That way, we all can learn.
  17. Take a look at Angle of Attack stuff. It's based on the FSX platform but it's pretty good training nevertheless
  18. Do let us know how you get on with the airbus and which one (JARdesign or QPAC or Peter) you decide to purchase.
  19. On a windows system, if the monitor is detected as "generic" or "Plug and play", X-Plane will often not let you change its resolution. You need to install the "driver" for the monitor (an INF file, an ICM file and a CAT file). This is nothing to do with the Graphics Card driver and it usually does not have an EXE run-able install file. Also, please note, this can only happen if full-screen mode checkbox is ticked under "rendering Options".
  20. Speedbird4509, that's the sort of e-mail that makes me very happy. The more developers who begin to produce for X-Plane the more we all benefit. Although Mexico is not really an area I have ever been to, virtually, I will definitely purchase the package if the "incredible piece of work" lives up to your hype  The sooner the better.
  21. Looks brilliant - definitely next on my purchase list
  22. There are many really nice freeware airports for X-Plane, but if a developer brings out an airport/scenery that is better than what is currently available, I am happy to pull out the plastic card. The more payware X-plane users purchase, the more interest will be shown by more developers. I have only recently become involved with X-Plane (Nearly 30 years with MS flight simulator iterations), but I definitely think it is the simulator with the most future potential. One thing we can all do is buy the payware (provided it is good) and encourage the freeware makers.
  23. When you have a Pilot and Co-pilot, how do you get X-plane to allow two yokes and two sets of pedals to be used? When assigning the axes under the "Joystick and Equipment" section, it doesn't seem possible to assign two yokes to the "Roll". Assigning one deselects the other assignation. Same story for rudder pedals and toe brakes. This is simple to do in FSX where the last movement on either control takes the focus. Can anyone suggest how I can do this in X-Plane 10.25? The obvious answer is to use a second PC configured as a co-pilot's Station. The trouble with this is then the cockpit would then not work easily in FSX.
