Blurry plastic looking water in 2.4

Featured Replies

Is anyone else getting this? I updated to 2.4 using Robs great guide and get these blurry water/sun patches with or without NI and no matter how much I AA. I am using REX4 SP3 with TU1 and have tried multiple textures...

I have my graphics fairly high and everything else runs perfectly smooth and looks great.

I have, but since way before from 2.1. I just that it was normal. Problably haven't noticed it because I changed maximum visibility to 50nm in ASN to conserve cloud rendering and a bit more realism.

The water has always looked horrible in the P3DV2. I think it has to do with the new 3D water.

... and we got the waves to actually animate as well. ;)

From that altitude..and the refraction of light...I really don't see anything wrong in your two pictures....not really...and water is so very critical as an immersion factor.  I wouldn't worry...to see this at your height.....  Just two cents...    I looked at the two pics again...and you are looking through a layer of haze...or 'humidity'.  I have seen many real-life hues of that...look out to the shallow water by the islands...the haze layer is very clear...and will affect the clarity of the water surface...  Nah...it looks good...no worries..

Is your water detail slider on ultra?

.. and tessellation "ticked" on?

Tim,

Do I need to upgrade to REX4 for the new stuff? I really want to see animated waves and surface motion at higher altitudes, and if that means that I need to purchase REX4, then just let me know where I need to sign on the dotted line! Water in P3D at the moment is rubbish, so I certainly need to do something.

That extreme blurriness of the light reflection can come from using NI to alter the base P3D profile. Reset it and see if that helps with that problem.

Looking forward to the REX update.

Thanks everyone for looking into this for me, and thanks REX dev for confirming that there will be an update that should take care of this.

Can't wait. I'm not going to be replying to every slider questions at the moment do to the certainty of the REX dev that it is a known issue.

I will update my REX when SP4 and TU2 when its out and then I will go from there :)

I fly recreationally as well and have never seen anything like this before...lol I will wait for the updates and see where it takes me

Yes. both Ultra and high both have the same issue. and tessellation is on along with the slider to high.

Ya I thought it may initially be an NI setting but with or without NI taking over perimeters I get the same issue. I will wait for the update

What about through the driver, if not NI?... forcing AF via anything but the P3D UI seems to cause this. My sun reflections do not look like this, but I have seen it when using settings outside of the sim.

Here's a quick video of the water. I looks fine to me but eager to see what Tim and folks have cooked up.
