Does ProATC use ActiveSky weather for SIDs and current Arrival weather to assign a STAR and transition to the correct arrival (based on wind data) runway?

I have Voxatc but it cannot use a weather programs data to do that.

yes you can set this up in proatcx in the settings with asn.  you point the settings to the correct asn folder in your roaming/activesky folder.

then in asn make sure you have "atc lock" checked.

They don't seem to offer a trial like vox. Quite pricey, will give it a miss. Dont want to spend that kind of money and then not like it.

pilot2atc  gives you a 15 days free trial to see if you like it

Thanks for that info.

And see it is $49.

Support is via e-mail ... which I do not care for.

VOXatc is $77 US ..

It has a 7 day free trial but it takes that long to set up voices and begin testing.

Had I known the important things that do not work ... I would have waited for the next version of the program prior to testing it ....  prior to purchasing.

Support is also via e-mail ..... some have waited a week or so for a reply. Most of mine got answered in 24 hours .... but that's still slow.

On fixing Voxatc to use current arrival weather to assign STAR and correct landing runway the developer said in an e-mail to me:

""Might consider it in the future, but currently the isn't enough time available to work on this feature".

IMO, all ATC programs should be able to supply current arrival ATIS and get you on the correct approach.

Pro ATC looks interesting. A few questions, I haven't yet read the features and the forum, so sorry if they have already been asked:

1. Can I setup the FO so that he replies to ATC and changes frequencies autonomously, so that I concentrate in flying and the FO in ATC communication?

2. The fact that Pro ATC interacts only with the AI airplanes around your airplane means that if there are a lot of AI planes but are more than say 10 miles from your airplane, they will not be dealt with and you don't hear any chatter with AI? In other words, what's the radius around you where you hear ATC/AI communications?

3. What does "PMDG is now supported" mean? And what does the fact that you have to enter SIDs/STARs in the FMC mean? That ATC will make you fly SIDs/STARs?

4. Are diversions to alternate airports supported?

5. Are requests to deviate due to weather or turbulence supported?

6. Are altitude change requests supported?

Thank you!

James Goggi

James,

Good questions ..

I would also like know if Pro ATC can read your weather program and then assign the correct STAR and landing runway, based on current winds at arrival airport?

I'll believe its fixed when I see it. I would seriously consider a different program. Many people feel that they have been fleeced.

Which program ... I assumed you meant ProATC fixes?

Yes. I hope it does get fixed, but I'm not holding my breath.

I forgot:

7. Is it possible to choose another runway for landing?

8. Is it possible to choose another type of approach (VISUAL, VOR, NDB, RNAV...)

9. Is it possible to do a standar approach (according to charts) or only vectors?

James Goggi

In answer to question 1 above. My fo tunes each of the com radios in the eaglesoft citation x leaving me to concentrate on flying.

I really like pro atc x. Got a few minor things to iron out but the update looms looks like it fixes that.

love inputting and flying a star on approach. Completely different dimension to fsx

VOX ATC as far as procedural correctness is concerned is light years ahead of PATC. It has a fully functional FO and you can use the program as button or voice interaction. The missing feature of current weather for approach and landing is simply worked around by just stopping and restarting VOX before reaching TOD.

VOX ATC is slightly more expensive than PATC, but it already has voice control, PATC is going to add this feature (so they say) as an addon at extra cost. It also does not offer a demo period, VOX gives you a fully functioning 7 days.
