P3D V2.4 need to tweaks ! please help !

Featured Replies

Hi folk and hope you're well

I am a newbie in P3D V2.4 and its the first use today.

I think I need to tweak my p3d v2.4 but I dont know what is the acceptable tweaks to the P3D.

could anyone help me what the tweaks and graphical settings are important to me according to my specs please ?

Thx for reading and hope I get the help.

If you mean adding tweaks to the p3d.cfg file, then I personally do not use any, and I am not convinced that any are needed.

There aren't any 'acceptable tweaks to the P3D' really... If things don't performa well, you have to use the options screen to lower a few settings!

Exactly this! I know it's a hard habit to break after FSX... :P

As far as graphic settings, these should give you a good starting point (courtesy of our resident expert Rob):

What the exact value you use ?

I've been thinking of marketing a big red button (sort of like this one):

labeled "P3d Tweaking" that one could put on your desk and press whenever performance wasn't acceptable.

I am using this tweak,

Under: [MAIN]

Add: AlwaysFullLoad=1

Someone in this forum wrote someday that this seems to help him with memory issues.

"According to Beau at Lockheed Martin, this edit will force the terrain to unload and reload when resetting flights and changing locations, which can free up some memory."

There are acceptable tweaks, one of which includes the fiber fraction time as already mentioned. During the installation p3d will have installed an application called learning center and there is a section in there named something like performance tuning. Here the tweaks are documented with descriptions and usage.

Using 2.4 with no tweaks, Frooglesim has an article on setting the Affinty via the P3D.exe rather than .cfg, seems to works fine for me. I have the sliders maxed except the graphics which is set to 2048. I'm also using ASN and ORBX scenery which gives no noticeable stutters or quality loss, and my system CPU is a dated i7-2600 overclocked to 3.8ghz.

No tweaks here. There is no need to. I set my frames to unlimited and off i go. P3Dv2.4 out of the box is perfect. Ok one "tweak" but thats for the VC cam. Its good when u fly choppers and have wide view aspect on and use TrackIR. It is not needed when u fly fixed wing.

Just a reminder to all those who say tweaks are bad or unnecessary in P3D v2: LM tells you what and how to tweak right in their learning guide. If they didn't think they worked they wouldn't recommend that you try them.  B)

True...but that guide hasn't been updated since 2.0. Quite a bit has changed under the hood since! ^_^

One external program that really makes a difference is AirTrafficManager (fantastic little freeware to control the volume of AI aircraft). If you run AI traffic, the difference in performance around any area with busy airspace is amazing.
