November 21, 201411 yr Amazon US is selling new copies of FSX at $159.95 and upwards.Amazon UK states FSX is "Currently unavailable. We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock."Is this because Microsoft is no longer selling FSX in anticiption of DoveTail's taking of over? Gerry Howard
November 21, 201411 yr I do not see where fsx is being sold at Amazon for $159 plus. My Google shows only $20 for FSX and $18 for Acceleration (those prices are high too). Plus there are several other outlets selling FSX/Acceleration and addons (Amazon is not the only store on the block). Microsoft may not be selling the product in their store but it is being offered all over the world. Best regards, Jim Young | AVSIM Online! - Simming's Premier Resource! November 21, 201411 yr I think it would be an absolute massive hit if or when it comes to steam. Steam makes everything so easy and straight forward. All your Ad On's in one place.
November 21, 201411 yr Just be warned that activating FSX may be a problem. I bought FSX and Acceleration and could never get them activated. Microsoft were less than helpful.
November 21, 201411 yr Just be warned that activating FSX may be a problem. I bought FSX and Acceleration and could never get them activated. Microsoft were less than helpful. Phil Taylor said last year, that the activation servers will stay up, because the servers are used for all Microsoft products, not just FSX. I activated FSX recently without issues. There was something I read where there is a 90 day period, where if you reinstall FSX often, that the message to call MS to activate will come up. If you only do it once a year, it won't. Same applies for Windows I believe. As for buying FSX in stores, a lot of places like EB games used to sell PC games, but in the last 5-6 years, they pretty much only sell console games. They told me the reason was most PC games can be acquired from Steam, etc, so there's no need to waste store space on boxed copies of them. Jeff Thomson
November 21, 201411 yr and then see the button See all buying options on that page Thanks Gerry. These are products being shipped from Japan/Thailand to the US (which I'm 120% positive none of us in the USA would be doing). Still the prices are pretty high even when considering the cost of shipping. Maybe they have high taxes in Japan. They could also be using Amazon for scamming products. November 21, 201411 yr Author There's one at $165.98 Ships from IN, United StatesI'm sure there are others in the pipe-line in stores, but I suggest there will be no more from Microsoft. Gerry Howard
November 21, 201411 yr It will be interesting to see what Dovetail do with FSX, good or not, I think I'll either stick to my original version of FSX or move all to P3D. Those prices on Amazon are OTT!

November 21, 201411 yr I had to buy a new copy of FSX recently since I lost the 2nd disc. Only paid 30 bucks. I feel bad for whoever spends 160 bucks on a copy, it better be signed by Bob Hoover or something lol.
November 21, 201411 yr Just be warned that activating FSX may be a problem. I bought FSX and Acceleration and could never get them activated. Microsoft were less than helpful. Oh, I am so very happy reading your post, because a few months ago when I castigated MS for making it so awkward and difficult to activate online, I had some so-called 'know-it-alls-MS aficionados' here haul me over the coals. Glad to read somebody else too had issues. As the topic title suggests, ''Arrivederci FSX!'' Rick Almeida

Then there's the last entry on page 2 of that link, where this is listed: $1,200.00 & FREE Shipping Oh yes, that sounds legitimate... Good thing the shipping is free, otherwise one might suspect a scam! Fr. Bill AOPA Member: 07141481 AARP Member: 3209010556 Avsim Board of Directors | Avsim Forums Moderator
November 21, 201411 yr Author I'm sure they will be scams and I'm sure there will be fakes as well if there's an interregnum. Amazon UK still says FSX Gold "Currently unavailable We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Why doesn't have Amazon any? Why are there posts in other countries with signifcantly higher prices - suppy and demand? Gerry Howard

Amazon UK still says FSX Gold "Currently unavailable We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock." Why doesn't have Amazon any? Why are there posts in other countries with signifcantly higher prices - suppy and demand? Well, I just checked at the Microsoft Store and they no longer list FSX in any edition whatsoever now. Apparently they have managed to get rid of all their boxed editions, and are no longer even selling the download versions either... http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en_US/list/PC-games/categoryID.62685800 Fr.
