December 29, 201411 yr So it overrides the REX4 Texture Direct clouds completely?Only in the sense that these are alternative textures. Honestly, listening to some of you guys makes me wonder why you are making such a big deal out of this. The 'Soft Cloud' textures are merely replacements for you to try which can easily be switched in or out for any one of the 16 sets provided. My understanding is that these are simply softer textured replacements for the low level clouds in Prepar3D. If you prefer those provided by REX4 - Texture Direct then so be it, choose and install, it takes but a moment. You can chop and change, moving back and forward between the two GUIs, it's your choice and nothing you do will be destructive. Keep a record of the sets you prefer and return to them anytime you wish. My point is that for the money the 'Soft Clouds' are a bargain and you can experiment to your hearts content - switching between the 16 sets, choosing a set from REX4 - Tx Direct or restoring the Prepar3D defaults (assuming you backed them up in REX4 - Tx Direct). It's so easy, so I suggest everyone stops agonising and begin the business of enjoying what's currently on offer. Along with the recently provided cloud.fx fix for Prepar3D v2.4 what could be better? Mike
December 29, 201411 yr Any clouds that you've installed in your FS. If you run REX4 again and install a theme with clouds than these clouds are what you see. One can untick to install clouds in REX4 so it won't override the Soft Clouds. Spirit
December 29, 201411 yr So it overrides the REX4 Texture Direct clouds completely? No, it only overrides the lowest cloud layer textures from REX TD 4 (cumulus01.bmp).
December 29, 201411 yr No, it only overrides the lowest cloud layer textures from REX TD 4 (cumulus01.bmp). Problem with semantics here? Instead of 'override' perhaps we should be using words like 'replace' or 'substitute'. Mike
December 29, 201411 yr I am still getting a CTD when trying to install these textures through the Soft Cloud installation. It seems to be integrated into REX4 TD already though since it appears I now have the soft clouds option when I open REX4 TD. It doesn't crash when I install the textures through REX4 TD; however, I'm not entirely sure the soft clouds are being installed. If they are then I can't tell much of a difference. I'm still waiting to be verified on the REX website...I know it's the holiday season. Ryan
December 30, 201411 yr It seems to be integrated into REX4 TD already though since it appears I now have the soft clouds option when I open REX4 TD. Could You post a screen shot of the page where the option is? I have build 1210 of REX4 TD and it says no updates are available. I don't see any option like that, but maybe the new REX 4 TD download link silently changed that. If they are then I can't tell much of a difference. The soft clouds are very different looking. They are much more fluffy and less "photoreal" than the ones in REX4 TD. Some of that comes from them being only 512 resolution.
December 30, 201411 yr Could You post a screen shot of the page where the option is? Sorry...forgot to mention a couple of things: 1. I already have REX4 TD installed updated to the latest version/build and have been using 512 resolution only. 2. I purchased the soft clouds pack and ran the application installer only. I could not install the soft clouds through the new "Soft Clouds" standalone installation as I was getting a CTD. Here are the two desktop shortcuts that I now have: Here is the new REX4 TD splash screen: Here is the "Low-level" cloud option within REX4 TD (not the soft cloud application itself): Here is the "Soft cloud" application after trying to install the soft clouds through the standalone program: Since I'm already using 512 resolution clouds it is hard for me to tell if the soft cloud textures are installing through REX4 TD since I keep getting a CTD through the standalone soft cloud installer.
