Where Is Your RealAir T-Duke V2 Now?!

KJAC RW19.TETON3.IDA PIH BYI KTWF ILS25 - I'll fly this tonight, thanks!  I had to take a day off to do some RW car repairs.. If anyone ever tries to replace a radiator in a Chevy Cavalier (with AC), expect to speak in tongues for 5 hours, and suddenly hate puppies, kittens, and anything Disney for a few hours afterword..

So you simulate before you simulate if that makes any sense

It does, and my Doctor told me I should cut back.

Anyone know of a Flight Tutorial

As Jim said, there is a some good base line how to's in the manual, but I offer the following;

After start up, you should turn ON the "inertial separators" ("Ice doors" in the Duke language). Some manufactures will have you turn them on even on start up (KA B200 for example), They are just a flap inside the engine intake that alters the air flow in a way to keep the engines from sucking in debris. The most dependable aircraft engine in the world makes for a very poor vacuum cleaner. It's similar to "Alternate Air" in some pistons, and should be used kind of in the same way. I've seen pilots use it when flying in rain, but absolutely if your in sleet.

Once everything is up and running, and you ready for take off-

inertial separators ON (switch down/towards you)

Fuel pumps ON (But I never do, but it's good practice)

Lights.

One notch of flaps (approach setting)

Condition levers full forward

Props Full forward

Trim DOWN (pointer goes toward panel) about half way between the 0 and the next mark)

Throttle up to 900-1000 TRQ (We don't want more then that, because Ins Seps will increase TRQ when turned off, and we don't want to over TRQ!)

90 kts, rotate, and lift off.

Gear up

At 120 kts, flaps up

Fuel Pumps off

Reduce Props to 2100 RPM

inertial separators OFF... the plane will do a neat little wiggle, as you can only turn one off at a time. in RW, you would do these together, but we only have a mouse here.

You should climb at 1800 fpm, which is allot, and such a rate would freak out people never in plane before.. we forget this stuff in a sim.. You can do way more in this plane, but unnecessary.

During climb you will have to keep adding more throttle as you get higher, BUT... keep an eye on ITT.. don't go over 790. Adjust climb rate and power to stay at or bellow that. you want some slack before the red line.

Level off, reduce TRQ to 900

Reduce props to 2000 RPM

Re-adjust TRQ to 1000. That should keep you near the 200 kt red line. Double check ITT before doing so.

DESEND - reduce TRQ to 500, and desend at 1500 fpm. as you get lower, you will have to reduce power. You may get as low as 200 TRQ, but that is OK. Don't overspeed.

LANDING - TRQ 400 until you get to 170 kts, then add first flaps. Stay there until ready for final.

FINAL - This gets busy..   practice makes perfect..  On final descent, reduce TRQ to 350, gear down. inertial separators ON, INCREASE power to 300 TRQ (you will lose power with the IS on)  At 120 kts, Full flaps. Condition (NOT POWER) levers to FLIGHT IDLE. Props FULL FORWARD.

Fuel Pumps on

Now there are two schools of thought here on turbines... 1.) Over the fence, power to flight idle, and touch down like your pretty. 2.) 50 feet, and assured touch down, power to flight idle like your a pro.

Enjoy.

The Duke is finally home at 65S in from Sun Valley. Beautiful dawn departure followed by 1 1/2 boring hours of cloud cover and headwinds but the RNAV approach was pretty cool. I swear ASN comes stock with a pre-programmed 40 kt headwind, lol.

Love the landing lights, even better in complete darkness

RNAV approach is for Rwy 02 but wind favored 20 so I bailed off at the last minute and flew left downwind for 20. A little tight for the Duke, I'm used to slower airplanes, took 2 tries to get this shot, lol.

Next stop? I dunno, maybe a short hop to KSFF for inspection/maintenance at Rocket Engineering.

Great RNAV approach to RWY 07, over Øyenskavlen National Park. I did a small detour to enter the approach from the South via OTSEX  (true story)

Beautiful picture Jim.

Thank you Robert, of course the Duke is quite photogenic which makes it rather difficult to get a bad screenshot!

OK HawkDsl, I did KMMH-KTVL-KFAT last night although I did The Tahoe > Fresno leg in the Malibu Jetprop. Back in the Duke now though so next I'll see your Baker and raise you one L35, Big Bear and then probably KAVX, Catalina.

BTW Neil Hill's FTX Global freeware airports Pack #1  covers a bunch of SoCal airports:

L35, Big Bear

KAJO, Corona Municipal

KAVX, Catalina

KEMT, El Monte

KRIR, Flabob

KVNY, Van Nuys

L52, Oceano County

They work fine even if you don't have FTXG BTW, they should work fine on top of your photoreal as well, you do need the orbxlibs for all the objects to show up however.

Enjoy your flights everyone!

How about this one; L35 - KPSP - F70 - KCRQ - KSDM - KNUC - KAVX ... Fueling up now. On a side note.. I so want to live in San Diego.. OMG... 86 avg temp, 360 sunny days.

Made it to Baker... Stunning Bluesky in this area. (I have all of the BluSky for Cali)

Decided to fly N157JT for a bit, think I like this white interior the best. KFAT to L35 with a stop at 0O2 Baker along the way. Now on the ground at L35 Big Bear Lake, CA. I think I'll tenatively do L35 KPSP KRIR KAJO KAVX KEMT KVNY L52 to take in all the freeware airports, then I'll probably switch back to real time and ease my way northward back into winter.
