February 11, 201511 yr Haha it's all so funny... From the, "I've got 2 terrabytes of addons and 90% of them don't work on the new platform because the developers don't exist anymore so I'm not moving anywhere." To the "I tried it, and it was rubbish anyone got a copy of FLY! That was the best. Besides I've got two terabytes of addons. of course I use them!." To the, "Pah! it's got better lighting and stuff, why do I need that? I preferred it when you only had wire frame graphics but I was forced to change because the dog ate the floppy disks." To the, "I downloaded it in secret but I'm not going to lose face with all my buddies and admit it." To the, "I never buy anything new, it's not as good as the old stuff and besides, I prefer the stuff that's out of development because then I can sit and moan. And..., I've got two terabytes of addons..." I do find the world and people in it interesting. You guys are spoiled lol Back in the days we had every two year a new version of FS from MS and we did go through the software and hardware cycle again...  André

February 11, 201511 yr What current FSX Addons dont work in P3D? Is it just the PMDG aircraft? Anthony Neumann
February 11, 201511 yr I haven't suffered one OOM since I changed to DX10 using the fixer. I have shadows and smooth graphics. P3D would for me, be just a waste of money. Dave Taylor
February 18, 201511 yr Author I am absolutely stunned by the performance level of P3D, shadowing and generally everything else, it's sort of like a new sim for me personally so I'm excited. Jacek G. February 18, 201511 yr P3D is just FSX with shadows. We both know that's not true. Aaron Thacker
February 26, 201511 yr Is the complete reinstallation required after every P3D update? Since I have hundreds of addons (FSX, I hope most will work in P3D) that sound like PITA. Tomaz Drnovsek My FSX Videos My AVSIM Gallery
February 26, 201511 yr What current FSX Addons dont work in P3D? Is it just the PMDG aircraft? There is a long list. Do a search and you will find. It's a whole new sim alright, and you need to use proper scenery, aircraft etc. developed for it. In some case like PMDG, you need to buy license again. Throw in FSX stuffs via the EMT gives the illusion that most will work. The reality is that there are subtle incompatibility issues that you will quickly discover. Is the complete reinstallation required after every P3D update? Since I have hundreds of addons (FSX, I hope most will work in P3D) that sound like PITA. No. But for 2.5 it is. You are better off check with your add-on developer's support site and get the proper P3D installer for them. Otherwise using the EMT tool you will need to fix issues yourself. February 26, 201511 yr Is the complete reinstallation required after every P3D update? Since I have hundreds of addons (FSX, I hope most will work in P3D) that sound like PITA. Only the most recent update to P3D (2.5) required a complete reinstall, and that was because LM made some substantial changes to the basic file and folder structure - changes made to simplify future expansion of the sim. Now that the new file structure is established, future updates should be done by patches going forward - at least until the next major update. Add-ons made in strict compliance to the SDK will probably not be affected by updates. Those which use custom programming techniques, or which directly access memory addresses in the running P3D process, may require new versions whenever P3D is updated.
