Lockheed-Martin's "Real Target Market"

Featured Replies

Gerry, please drop the political aspects before I have to lock this thread entirely.

Which political aspects was I supposed to have dropped?

I merely pointed out what's on the public record. that is  that Lockheed Martin, in company with  many other companies, openly and legally made a $4M+ contribution to candidates and  $14M+ paid in lobbying in the US.

I still suggest that is much more likely make  "us feeling warm and fuzzy about them when it comes time for our elected representatives (not only in the US) to vote on appropriations." than selling Prepar3d to a small number of simmers.

So it makes good business sense for LM to have us feeling warm and fuzzy about them when it comes time for our elected representatives (not only in the US) to vote on appropriations.

But I agree with your point. Lockheed Martin would be better stuffeing a massive banoffee pie into the gobs of our elected representatives - given that the vast majority of them are completely unware of Prepar3D.

Not to fan flames but just to be factual - please note that I wasn't suggesting that P3D was intended to influence elected representatives, but only that it might create a more favorable impression of LM among the general public.  I also suggested that that was a side benefit of P3D, not its main purpose, which is to create a professional-grade simulation platform.  And I noted that we don't know whether LM had any public affairs goals for P3D - it's reasonable to think they might and it'd be smart if they did, but we don't know anything factual about their intent, other than that they've developed P3D and that they sell licenses to individual end-users as well as to business customers.

Anyone who wants to read my viewpoint can look at post #64 above.  Beyond that, I'm out.  The great thing about Avsim is that everyone here is an expert, so any conclusions that anyone draws will surely be right.

We got the pink warning. Probably deserve it too. Doubtful that Bill foresaw the reaction his little post would get. Seriously guys, if we were Lockheed's target market, it would have to be some kind of social experiment. It's doubtful we produce enough revenue to show up on their radar.

Am I the target for this product? I don't care, I'm too busy using it to worry about it. B)

When TacPack for P3d is released, you could be.

Enough of us to require a server upgrade ...we're important to LM and will continue to be important to LM ... if we weren't important to LM, then P3D would not be offered to the public (be it individuals or commercial entities).

Cheers, Rob.

Not sure how this is germane to me, but okay!

TacPack is an add-on for FSX that allows combat aircraft to have working weapons that can destroy ground and air targets:
Roger that. Remind me not to play multi-player with you! ^_^

Fair statement. You would know LM's interest in our segment better than I.
