[Beta Preview] NGX P3D - Part II

In order to test a few things this morning on a break from work, I took the little football up for a quick spin. Out of the corner of my virtual eye, I noticed something over on the FO's display. Knowing that movement is usually what catches someone's attention, what is going on here, and what changed? Hint: It's on the ND, but I'm not talking about the 777-style terrain detail.

Hint 2: If you still haven't gotten it. It would be a little easier to see had I made a video from this.

Speaking of videos, this may seem boring to some of you, but I found it to be a little mesmerizing. I let the sim run, and recorded it, while I was working my other job. The result is an interesting time lapse of the typical low winter clouds of the DC area being blown across the sky by stiff low level wind. Spliced right into the middle of that time lapse is about a minute of 6400x speed (rendered in my video editor - not sim-based) shadowplay:

So far, I've been up since about 0730 my time and have only taken a break for about 30 minutes to run up the road and get some fast food for dinner. We're all working really hard to get this thing out the door to you all sooner rather than later.

Looks like some light precip to me. And we appreciate your hard work!

Awsome! I cant wait for the SP1D FSX let alone the P3D version!

Is it the way the magenta line curves short of RIC?

I know there's a lot of money in aviation because I put it there.

Note the TERR on the display

I can't wait for you all to have it, honestly. I love the NGX, but I'd like to be moving on to other projects.

Nope. It's a new feature for the NGX. It's tough to spot the telltale sign in this image, though (just zoomed in to 200% and couldn't see what I was looking for). At the same time, the feature is definitely visible.

Shadows....

True...but that one's known already.

Terrain raster sweep effect?

Winner.

First thing I thought, but "not" and "terrain" in the same sentence confused me.  This might be an older bird, but I'm pretty sure I'll get it when it comes out for P3D, and the 747v2, and most probably whatever comes after...

A little misdirection there...

Great. Looking forward to fly it.

Ahhh Wes beat me to it! Glad to hear! Did that offset (look-ahead sweep while turning) from my request in the bug tracker make it in or just the 777-style code?

Ba Humbug Kyle.

Night time runs for dinner lost their charm a while back for me.

Reasons are simple, but let me put it into a sophisticated formula for you to understand:

B) + = :Star: :Star: - time availability x 10 + super delicious home cooked  meals(wife behind me reading as i type  )- Wendy's old unhealthy delicious fries  to go with my spicy chicken sandwich with extra mayo (I should sue them for this)= well, to put it simply no more night runs anywhere for that matter, as i also have to put the kids to sleep.

P.S. sorry the formula was simplified, but there is a lack of choice in the emoticons.

Oh and by the way, I had to delete a bunch as it was more than the forum would allow.

It was actually simple when I thought about it - Kyle suggesting it would show better on a video as well as the fact that raster sweep was introduced when the 777 got WXR, made it a logical choice.

The P3D 777 Ruined FSX forever for me, cant wait to fly the 737 again!
