March 28, 201511 yr Commercial Member Is there anything new and cool in the v5 trainer itself? I always thought they should add "Vcalc - time/dist to TOD" as one of the available data fields. Also it'd be awesome to see "TOD" projected on the map. I know those are Garmin things and not Flight1 things, just musing. That would be a nice thing to have, for sure. That, or a spoken message, or an alarm. Flashing that little 'MSG' box on the bottom bar doesn't always grab my attention quick enough. ^_^ Jim Stewart Milviz Person.

March 28, 201511 yr Is there anything new and cool in the v5 trainer itself? Jim, if you have a second computer you could always download the v5 trainer from Garmin and check out the new features. One minor thing I noticed is that KG's are now an option for Euro flyers. A bigger feature is loads more GNSS approaches available in Europe (I always thought this was a Navdata issue, but it makes sense that the GPS software itself has to support the GPS Approaches) A really nice feature would be if they implemented the weather radar with Active Sky Next. That would be the ultimate feature for me! As for current Navdata, I've heard that the RealityXP navdata is compatible with a simple rename of the file. Apparently.. Neil Andrews. March 28, 201511 yr You can select VSR as one of the fields on the GTN 750 face... It's not a time to descent but it will give you feet per min required. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |
March 28, 201511 yr I assume the chart overlay is something you can switch on or off in the menu? Hey Jim, I believe the approach chart is a separate option entirely from the Map view, i.e. Map, Terrain, Charts, etc. Philip Manhart :American Flag: - "Wise men talk because they have something to say; fools, because they have to say something." ~ Plato
March 28, 201511 yr Hey Jim, I believe the approach chart is a separate option entirely from the Map view, i.e. Map, Terrain, Charts, etc. If you have the approach chart open in the charts view, it will also display in the Map view. If not, it does not show. The new features are Garmin Trainer V5 features, not Flight1 invented features, as best I know. Garmin keeps updating it's software for these units, and the newer Trainer release runs the newer software. It is quite slick, and truly "as real as it gets".. Bert
March 28, 201511 yr Commercial Member Bert, does this include terrain data world-wide? Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
March 28, 201511 yr Yeah, the terrain data in V5 is world-wide now. Neil Andrews. Fight or Flight - YouTube | Twitter
March 28, 201511 yr You can get worldwide data now... March 28, 201511 yr Author Bert, does this include terrain data world-wide? I installed the V5 trainer on a separate PC copied and pasted the worldwide terrain into the current 750 trainer. David Graham Google, Network+, Cisco CSE, Cisco Unity Support Specialist, A+, CCNA
March 28, 201511 yr You can get worldwide data now... If you use the files from v5 Yes, but Flight1 weren't too happy about us sharing the procedure on how to do it. Best to just wait for the F1GTN update. Neil Andrews. Fight or Flight - YouTube | Twitter
March 28, 201511 yr Commercial Member I'd downloaded the new trainer back when it was first released, but never got around to seeing about the terrain data. Mostly because I've been flying around Hawaii in my sim for the past couple of months, so it hasn't been on my mind. ^_^ I was just curious if the new update will include it.
